Well known for its real ale range and busy bar, The Tap also serves lunch daily, evening food Monday to Saturday and a great roast on Sundays. The name of the hotel has an unusual origin. Traditionally, the University of Oxford allowed their students to stable horses, but not the dogs. With nowhere else to house the animals, the proprietor of the local inn offered an invaluable dog-sitting service and the venue became known as the Dog House.

Loved that it was part of a pub, a little out of town and reasonably priced. The room was large and comfortable and the staff were super helpful and friendly when booking and enjoying a meal in the pub - which was also delicious!

We expected that the hotel would be quite noisy, especially as we had a room beside the beer garden and close to the road. However this was never an issue. We also thought the hotel may have been a bit far from the High street, but it was an easy walk to all the tourist attractions. And to stroll along the river was quite idyllic.
