I really enjoy visiting the surrounding areas, but the lesser cost hotels are often full during the fall color season, snowmobile season, and any time Michigan Tech has an event: Fall check in, parents weekend, winter carnival, end of spring semester.
Favorite place to eat: Suomi Bakery in Houghton. Great breakfast food and frozen pasties to go. Get there early, or prepare to wait a bit to get a table. Call a couple of days ahead if you want to be sure you get pasties to take home (sometimes they sell out).
Second favorite place to eat: Kaleva cafe. Great food, nice people (except for the one grouchy one, but that doesn't stop us from eating there).

We come to visit our grandson who goes to Mich. Tech.
We come to visit our grandson who goes to Mich. Tech. It’s a perfect location. Good restaurants, beautiful scenery. We always do lots of exploring of waterfalls too. Love the U.P. Quincys is our favorite restaurant, and the Downtowner was a fun college vibe bar.

We had been traveling for almost a week and luggage was heavy. They put us in a 2nd floor room and there is NO elevator. It was a chore to drag our heavy luggage up. (We found a dirty sock in this room.) We asked for a 1st floor room, they did let us move and the room was clean. The continental breakfast was good.

People were friendly.
People were friendly. Sat on main street with a cup of coffee and people watched. Easy driving though much roadwork. The Quincy mine tour was enjoyable. Went to Calumet to see some historical buildings and drove Brockway Mtn. Dr and explored Fort Wilkins. Hancock was a good base for exploring the Copper Country
The parking was great, and I know that parking in Hancock can be a challenge. I had an appointment an hour after checkout at a place that was only 15 minutes from the hotel, and the staff was very accommodating. They let me check out late with no problems.
Rustic and quiet setting close to Hancock. It’s a very convenient location for using as a central spot for sight-seeing. The host is very good with communication. All the required amenities are covered.
Largest continental breakfast at a hotel we’ve ever seen. Many options, nice large selection of tea esp. appreciated.
The room seemed recently renovated, super clean. No mold anywhere in bathroom.
Great staff; spacious room; easy access to room from parking lot; on the canal and easy access to walking/bike/ orv trail: good free breakfast; near highway to Houghton/keweenaw peninsula.
The location was nice- it was quiet.
It was nice to stay in a house instead of a cramped hotel room. We were able to spread out and each have our own space.
The WIFI was stable as well.
EVERYTHING. From checkin to checkout. Friendly service, comfortable & clean room. Nice hot tub & an AMAZING breakfast. The selections was plentiful. Not your typical hotel breakfast.
