Company information

The Inn was originally constructed in 1915 by an English cotton merchant as a wedding gift for his bride. It maintains many of the original ornate details from that time period. In the 1980's and 1990's it served as the home of the Innkeepers, Mary and Howard Baskin, and their four young children. Today the Innkeepers strive to make it a welcoming home for their guests.

Property information

Located among the beautiful array of homes and establishments lining Main Street, the Inn is exquisitely decorated by owner Mary Baskin utilizing items collected during a lifetime spent in interior design and travel. Each bedroom is beautifully appointed and has its own unique character. Excellent photographs of the Inn and the bedrooms can be found at www.theenglishmerchantsinn.com. During the week, breakfast is provided at The White Rhino Coffee House which is an upscale coffee house located in a recently remodeled Victorian house a short distance away at 414 W. Main Street (www.whiterhinocoffee.com) . The White Rhino begins serving at 6:30 am and is a perfect way to start a busy day. On the weekends, an elegant and hearty breakfast is served at 9:00 am on vintage English china in the dining room of the Inn.
