St. Elmo is a historic neighborhood located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, known for its charm, scenic views, and rich history. St. Elmo is situated at the foot of Lookout Mountain, offering residents and visitors picturesque views of the surrounding natural beauty. It's about 5 miles southwest of downtown Chattanooga. The neighborhood dates back to the late 19th century and has many well-preserved Victorian-era homes and buildings. It was named after St. Elmo, the patron saint of sailors, and was once a bustling streetcar suburb. One of the most famous attractions in St. Elmo is the Incline Railway, which is one of the world's steepest passenger railways. It takes visitors up Lookout Mountain, providing stunning views of the Chattanooga valley. Another notable landmark is the historic St. Elmo Fire Hall, which is still in use today. St. Elmo boasts many locally owned original to Chattanooga restaurants in 1885 Grill, Clumpie's Ice Cream, Little Coyote. Live music and other offering at the Woodshop further into St. Elmo residential area. Be sure to check it out!
