Absolutely beautiful location, many beautiful gardens and flowering plants. Easy to get to, Great value for the price. Close to the Volcano National Park but much less expensive and a much nicer stay. Hostess was very sweet and accommodation, welcoming.

The hosts go the extra mile and beyond to make your stay fantastic. We wanted for nothing. The little porch and yard were lovely, super convenient to the national park. The room was so tasteful, everything thought out. And best of all the birding at the nearby KipuKapuaula.

Ingeniously crafted, artistic, efficient isolated lodge providing comfort and convenience in a facility totally off grid. We loved it so much we were reluctant to leave it each morning to go exploring! The only down side was getting there, especially in the dark as the roads leading to it from the west are a mine field of potholes. The approach from the east is much easier on the driver, and the owners should advise their renters to take the entry from the east side.

The green, beautiful lush forest-like atmosphere in Volcano was so breathtaking! It was peaceful and quiet (except at night) you could hear the little frogs (koki frogs) nonstop but you eventually rest and they fade as you get closer to sleep.
Even driving feels awesome!

The park was very crowded around dusk.
The park was very crowded around dusk. There were lots of cars and few places to park. It might not be that way if the volcano had not been erupting. Because of previous eruptions, part of the rim road was blocked making fewer places to actually view the caldera. Make a reservation at one of the 2 restaurants at the Volcano House for dinner around sunset for the best views. Take a sweater or sweatshirt. The wind was chilly in June. We ate at the Rim restaurant. The food was very good. Expect to pay over $35 per person without cocktails. We were dressed for a nice restaurant and were disappointed that so many people were so very casual. But, it is vacation and Hawaii.

The volcano itself was absolutely incredible. Doesn't matter how old you are, it's just one of those things that fascinates and draws you in. Must see for anyone who has the opportunity since you never know when it will shut down.

Volcano National Park is amazing!
Volcano National Park is amazing! I would plan to spend at least a day and a half there if you are visiting Big Island. There is so much to do - the highlights include hiking across a crater and visiting during the dark (after sunset or before sunrise) to see the eruption!

Although our accommodation here was nothing amazing, the location cannot be left out of your big island itinerary! I wish someone had have told us to visit the National Park after sunset (or at sunrise) before our final day here!! That would be my top tip to people staying in this area. It would have been great to see the glowing lava.

Got to see the crater smoking with hot lava, but the weather was cool and misty/foggy, so no "orange glow." The place was packed with tourists, even so. Parking lots overflowed. We enjoyed most the early morning (6am) walk to the eruption site: very few people. Many nene sitings. The Volcano House restaurant has a less-expensive sister, the Rim restaurant, right next door. Good food, great views, but like everywhere on the Island, trés expensive. Next time I would bring more money!
We loved everything about this place! Peaceful, very well furnished, perfect location (5 minutes apart from Hawaii volcanoes national park), super clean.. everything you can really need during a holiday is provided by the lovely Pam and Dean! Also they gave us very useful highlights for visiting the park during our stay. Continental breakfast was abundant and delicious. We have travelled a lot in the past years, but we can definitely say that Pam and Dean’s bnb is one of the best where we have ever stayed. thank you very much!
Having the breakfast available in the fridge each day was very convenient. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. I might have preferred having more breakfast choices (we were there two nights and would like to have been able to try breakfasts 3 or 4, for example), but the quality of the breakfasts was great. The location is perfect for Volcanos NP, and there are a few places to eat in the area that are pretty good. The B&B property is very pretty and has some historic charm. Parking was very convenient to the room.
Nothing went well. When we contacted the owner Joan of Volcano Cottage re: keys, she insisted that she no longer owned this property. There was a lock box on front door, but clearly another group was already staying there. She told us to come to her house, tried to sell us on a 2nd property. She allowed us to go to the 2nd property with a key without asking for ID or credit card. Although she insisted she had NEVER heard of us, we left her home & went to Ruby Rd. property. What!
I loved the beautiful rainforest neighborhood and the clean and charming way the rooms were decorated. The hosts were wonderful and really enjoyed getting to know them during the wonderful breakfast they provided. it was extremely conveniently located near the Volcanoes National Park and being able to stay late at the park to view the lava at night and not having to drive far at night.
I’m not sure if it was the personal touches, daily fridge and cake stock ups, wonderful hosts, perfect climate, impeccable cleanliness, handy location for volcano park or the tranquillity and privacy, but this was hands down the best place I have ever stayed (and I’m pretty well travelled). Cannot recommend highly enough!
Greenery / rain forest like surrounds from every window and front balcony. Gas heater use was a necessity and provided good comfort throughout our 6 day stay ,- and surprisingly it was needed
Gr8 location to visit Volcano National Park - which we did multiple days and multiple times, morning and night.
I loved everything about this cottage and location. Even with the constant rain it was still an amazing experience (it did stop raining the day we left!)
There are so many added comforts that really made it a special stay. If we are ever back in Hawaii would love to visit your cottages again!
Location was absolutely perfect for traveling to the volcano. Easy and clear instructions from the host. The no contact check in was wonderful as we were super tired from the trip. Loved the garden oasis, parking was easy, and very close to the main road.
The room was exceptional ! It was large and with a lot of space. Very appreciable.
Located just next to the Volcano Park, it's a great place to stay for a road trip.
Despite there was no staff, the check_in/check out was easy and everything went fine.
Very quaint, need tidy hotel with a cottage like vibe. Our room overlooked a koi pond with beautiful trees and flowers. All the essentials were there and it was a quiet location. If you're looking for something local, this is your place.
quaint cottage accommodation with pleasant host; good location for Volcano National Park; good pancake, fruit and coffee breakfast; we arrived early and were able to leave our cases in our room while we visited the park.
Great location, close to Hawaii Volcano National Park. The property is very well maintained and professionally cleaned/sanitized. It has everything we need during our stay. We would stay there again.
The location is very close to the Volcano National Park entrance. So if you get up early you will be the first at the parking lot.
It gets very quiet at night except for the birds and the trees.
We had dinner at the restaurant and it was lovely with a great atmosphere. The room was gorgeous and very big and comfortable. If I am ever in Hawaii again, I would go back there.
Superb in room breakfast (pastries, müesli, tea & coffee),, really nice and cosy place, very friendly owners & super close to Volcano National Park! Thanks a lot!
