Depois de uma vida profissional intensa, como advogado, e de muito viajar, gosto de ficar no Pico, parado no tempo, a contemplar e partilhar o espectáculo do mundo : a montanha, o vento e as nuvens, as ondas, as ilhas no horizonte, os poentes, o voo dos pássaros, o cheiro dos incensos nas noites paradas, cheias de estrelas. Gosto de música, arquitectura e poesia. Como destinos de viagem favoritos (a repetir) : Rio de Janeiro, Goa, Marrocos, Puglia e as outras oito ilhas dos Açores. Música : Suites para violoncelo (Bach) e As quatro últimas Canções (Richard Strauss). Livros : Poesia de Fernando Pessoa, “À la recherche du temps perdu” (Proust) e “Les nourritures terrestres” (Gide). Como anfitrião, gosto de tratar os hóspedes como gostaria de ser tratado : dar a informação que possa interessar-lhes e manter total disponibilidade para o apoio de que necessitarem durante a estada, com o mínimo de presença.

High perched in a mountain In the middle of the Atlantic and named after the Bach’s music, Arte da Fuga is a project conceived as a frame for a sublime view (“view with a house”) and rather than a house, it must be lived as an escape experience, such as music can offer. It is located in Silveir a, 5km away from Lajes, in the south coast of Pico Island. From the access, like a ramp to a paraglide flight to the sea, through the invisible glass walls of the lounge - all that can be seen of the house (in two stores) dissimulated in the slope, are two wide wooden stairs towards the upper terrace and the sky. Getting inside, the escape ambiance persists: big terraces in three levels overlook an odorous orange tree garden and ample inner spaces (2 lounges, dining area with kitchen and three suites, with minimalistic decoration joining items from different parts of the world) are wide open to the sea breeze, the mountain and the sky and seem suspended in the landscape.
