The neighbourhood is horrible and not safe. The room was humid, and the sheets and towels smelled like somebody had already used them and hadn't changed. The room has windows, but they are blocked, so they are useless!

The room was spacious, the rooftop bar Eter is gorgeous so is the food. The hotel is well located to explore the city. Some of the staff were super friendly as well. It was an overall comfortable stay, with great value for money. The breakfast is delivered to your room (that's cool), however do note it's basic but enough to get you started.

Meals were fantastic at The Royal Sonesta Resort, but very large portions and pricey. Ruth Kris on site was a wonderful option to celebrate and we were able to make reservations with ease using opentable app. Loved the room, but the view of the ugly roof top could be improved with a little artistic imagination. Maybe paint the roof below those balcony ocean view rooms with a large wave mural camouflage replicating the blue turquoise ocean waves and white sands. Was distracting from the beautiful resort and ocean views. Old San Juan tour was beautiful and wonderful History. Manatee and Turtle excursion was cancelled with the bipolar weather of April - rain and too windy 'unusual according to the locals'. There were lots of beautiful adventures to explore but we didn't have enough time to see a lot of the fun stuff. Bioluminescent tour, rainforest, mountains, and hikes to the water falls, snorkeling with turtles, Bicardi Rum Factory. I didn't get to experience, but will definitely return to do so another time. Locals say to be leary of certain areas at night.
We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel for $20 plus tip,and returned hotel to AP with an Uber XL for $16 plus tip. We disembarked from our cruise and took the old and new San Juan Excursion with the cruiseline, so all our luggage was transferred including the carryons and we didn't have to lug it around while waiting before Hotel check in time at 4pm. We arrived early at the hotel and enjoyed lunch then the pool and waited for a text to inform us later that day when the room was ready. We had just room service that first night, second night was at Ruth Kris.

I was in the Santurce arts district at a cheaper hotel, and I'm glad I did that. The beach scene is kind of trashy, but might be fine for some folks. The Old San Juan area is a tourist place, though some good restaurants. Definitely see the Colon and el Morro forts.
If I were to do it again, I'd rent a car and get out of San Juan to have multiple days for el Yunque and other natural areas, and to just drive around the rest of the island.
You can uber around, or rent scooters, and the busses go to the main places you'd want to visit.

North, south and east water fronts are walking distance.
North, south and east water fronts are walking distance. Walk the del Morro shore trail for beautiful views, iguanas and many outdoor cats. Shopping, restaurants and bars galore. We loved Kaffe Haus for breakfast, and La Taberna Lupulo has many craft beers and fabulous fish tacos. Warning: it is hot and very humid. Rains a lot!

Puerto Rico is an island, but we are conservative in our way of dressing, and walk with in our bathing suits only in the beach.
Please be aware that not all the beaches are safe for swimming. San Juan faces the North Atlantic, with its strong currents.
Please do not walk the streets with expensive jewelry.
Park in paid parking, if possible.

We stayed in OLD SAN JUAN and it was great.
We stayed in OLD SAN JUAN and it was great. If you enjoy history and the origin of the Caribbean colonialism and cultures San Juan is treasure trove of information. The two main forts established over 600 are very impressive and well kept by the National Park Service. The “old San Juan” historic area has many quaint streets and restaurants. Prices in old San Juan (and Puerto Rico) were higher than we were expecting. 2-4 days is ample to see all.
The property is starting as a hostel because it is a hotel. I really like the bed and pillow, it was very comfortable. The Internet connection works in all the hostel. The property has a pool very nice to enjoy the free time. Check in and check out was very easy and they accept to keep my bags previous and after my stay, it was very useful!! The location is perfect, near old San Juan, near some beaches, near a very known place for nightlife and near the airport. The bedroom is cleaned everyday, this is so good!
If you are visiting Old San Juan this IS the place to stay. It’s located on the absolute cutest street with fabulous dining just outside and in the hotel. The location couldn’t be more central. The restaurants inside the hotel (there are 3). We’re shockingly delicious. I had one of the best chicken dishes ever. We were also traveling with our nine month old and everyone in the restaurants were extremely accommodating.
The rooftop was a nice touch to look over the city and see the capitol. Room was spacious and comfortable just like an apartment and it was very clean. It was a last minute booking after an airbnb didn't work out and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The location is very close to Old San Juan, La Placita, and Condado Beach and the Ubers were really cheap to get to all these places.

A delightful small hotel, with thoughtful design elements throughout and a beautiful walled garden in the middle of a dense suburban area. Room was very nicely decorated and enjoyed the attached "outdoor" shower (very private).
Hotel is fairly distant from many San Juan attractions, but if you have a car, it works well. Also many restaurant are walkable in 10 minutes.
1. The location was excellent. You step out of the door and you are on the streets of Old San Juan
2. Customer service was great, very helpful and attentive. Always willing to help.
3. All day everyday - Free coffee, cocktails and water was totally out of this world.
4. Rooftop was really cool.
5. Excellent room service.
6. Best hotel for the price.
Villa Herencia boasts a perfect location, nestled in the heart of San Juan yet tucked away in a serene spot. The hotel's service and charm were truly exceptional, immersing us in the authentic essence of Puerto Rico as we felt like we were staying in a typical, historic villa right in San Juan. It was an unforgettable experience!
Really pretty, updated hotel. Staff was amazing! So friendly and helpful. I loved walking to Kasaltas each morning for coffee and a pastry. I felt safe in the neighborhood. It was easy and inexpensive to get an Uber to drive us into Old San Juan. We also booked a rainforest and beach trip through Trip Advisor
I really liked the hotel itself- the beds were comfortable, I felt very safe as a female solo traveler, and it was a comfortable nice hotel. I needed to be in Old San Juan so the location was nice for me! Overall I had a really nice stay and it was exactly what I needed for this trip.
I searched nomads beach club and looked at the all women’s hostel for my birthday trip to San Juan. 1802 went through a remodel and continues to be the cheapest imo. I went around San Juan as a solo traveler, left my items unlocked at the hostel and nothing was touched!
Pros: Arguably the best hotel in Old San Juan at present. Excellent location and facilities--great rooftop pool and area. Modern and spacious rooms with high ceilings. The adult-only policy is a plus for couples or solo travelers.
We stayed here as we had a flight that landed at midnight, and we just wanted to go to bed before checking in to our next hotel in San Juan. We checked in right away, it was easy and perfect for a one night layover.
Breakfast was delicious and the service was incredible. Mr. Wallace was fantastic. The hotel was very clean. The pool being open 24 hours is a major plus. Best location ever! You can walk everywhere.
The staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel was close to the beach, restaurants, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks and other gift shops. It’s a beautiful place, very cultural of San Juan of old.
