Dakune Lodge & Chalet (previously Youthtown Lodge & Chalet) is THE ideal accommodation for any season! The chalet is warm and cosy, and features a log fire, large TV (with DVDs and Netflix), surround sound system, CDs, books and board games. The accommodation has three bedrooms (sleep 8) with one opening out to a private sunny deck with BBQ. Space for 2 more guests on the sofa bed in lounge. For larger groups Dakune Lodge (previously Youthtown Lodge) is available on the same site - sleeps up to 28! 15 minutes walk to the train station, bars and restaurants and in close proximity to spectacular walks, ski fields of Whakapapa (40 mins) and Turoa (20 mins). It's a great area to hang-out and relax, has modern facilities and is ideal for small groups, families, or holidays. All our guests can relax and enjoy the warm facilities including electric blankets, heat pump and log burner. There is a spa located on the back deck of the lodge which Chalet guests are welcome to us Dakune Lodge & Chalet are totally self-contained and you can enjoy the freedom to make them your home for the duration of your stay. Ohakune is a small town in the North Island of New Zealand, situated 215 kilometres north of Wellington and 292 kilometres south of Auckland. It is located at the southern end of the Tongariro National Park, close to the southwestern slopes of the active volcano Mount Ruapehu. Located within the Manawatu-Wanganui region, the town is 70 kilometres northeast of Wanganui and 25 kilometres west of Waiouru. A rural service town known as New Zealand's Carrot Capital, Ohakune is a popular base in winter for skiers using the ski fields (particularly Turoa) of nearby Mount Ruapehu and in summer for trampers hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
