We are a working lifestyle farm with sheep, cows, and hens. We love the fact that you can enjoy your own oasis, completely private, but on hand should you need us.

Okauia Lodge is the home of Alyson & Tim. Alyson was born & bred in Matamata and left as a teenager to go to the big smoke of Auckland. Tim was born in England and came to NZ as a teenager. Alyson & Tim have returned to Matamata this year 2023. Prior to Lockdown Alyson was a Tour Guide in India for 11 years. Tim has been in Transport since he was young and still runs a transport company in Auckland. We are looking forward to welcoming our visitors. We hike and bike ride and enjoy the outdoor life. We work our small farm so at anytime you can see the animals on the farm.

Opal Hot springs are only 3km down the road so can unwind in the hot pools. if you want great walking tracks Wairere Falls is only 7km away. Matamata Information Centre and Hobbiton bus tour is only 7kms. Also we are 3km away from the Matamata to Paeora bike trail.
