Host Info

Haere Mai, come and enjoy the peace and quiet away from the city...(only 45-50 minutes away from Auckland). Breathe in the fresh country air and just chill out for awhile. The Pine Cottage was built by our Great-grandfather from one tree in 1927, so it's a special place. We are surrounded by beautiful Native trees, bird song, and at night gaze at the stars and milky way above. It's close to Matakana, Tāwharanui, Wineries, Horse Riding activities, and much more. It is a working farm so I ask that you don't go wandering on the farm roads but keep to the garden area around the cottage. You may see a horse or a few cows in a paddock nearby during the day and at night you will hear the native owls, "Ruru" and other birds. Its all part of the rural experience.
The Truffle Honey Cottage is a fabulous spot if you want to explore the Matakana and Warkworth areas. There are regional parks like Tawharanui where you can hear Kiwi birds call at night and Scandretts regional park with historic farming buildings to explore. There is an Oyster and Seafood shop just 5 minutes away and in Warkworth and Matakana only 10-15 minutes away are many restaurants and Wineries to explore. You are way from the crowds and tucked away on a peaceful farm, with views of the Dome Valley and farmland as well as a pond in the distance filled with ducks and frogs, and the odd goose. You may spot a peacock, pheasant, pukeko or rabbit. Nature abounds.
