In the summer head outside onto the sundeck where you'll be able to fire up the BBQ for a full-flavoured classic meal; a Kiwi must-have. Catch some sun while you lie out on a bean bag looking across to the water. There is even a handy cricket set to make use of when you head over the road to the beach. When you get home off the beach, the outdoor shower is a welcome amenity to help you rinse the last bits of sand off the feet before you head indoors. The local swimming and snorkelling beach is within walking distance or Whale Watch Kaikōura and the Kaikōura Peninsula Walkway are also just a few minutes walk away. It's only a short five-minute drive to the centre of Kaikoura with all its cafes, restaurants and shops. Be sure to get out onto 'Tom's Track', a great 20-minute walk over the hill into Kaikoura with spectacular views well worth viewing. A stellar stay awaits you at The Kaikōura Bach! Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest National Park in New Zealand, but it is one of the most scenic. Abel Tasman boasts pristine white sandy beaches, tranquil estuaries and wonderful forested headlands. The Coastal Track is world famous, and visitors can choose to explore it on their own, or with a guide. Other ways to explore the coastline include sea kayaking, yacht, or water taxis. At the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park there is fantastic opportunity for visitors to swim with seals.
