We had a family unit which turned out to be a separate building with four bedrooms. It was huge. Quite basic, but great value.
  • Deborah

Everything was perfect! Views and location were amazing
  • Karen

Everything was perfect except there was no kitchen in the bungalow. But being a camping/outdoors venue I guess I couldn't expect this.

Company information

Awastone, once known as Mangaweka Adventure Co and nee Rangitikei River Adventures, is a family owned and operated company stemming back over 35 years. The group that first started "RRA" were locals, farmers, naturalist, idealist and fundamentally entrepreneurs that were fun at heart. In the early 1980's they brought a DC3 to this small village of 200 people and made it into a tea room, standing high over State Highway 1. They introduced a Bedford truck, revised from the Army and used it as the river people mover. All trips included a classic kiwi BBQ at the finish where they would eat a sausage with new friends and yawn about the river, the people and the world. They had fun. Over the years things streamlined but the Eames Family were remaining. Today Paul and Tricia with their merry group of young New Zealand and other international guides make up the family in Mangaweka. While the DC3 is closed and the Bedford is long been retired, they still make up an eclectic band of naturalists, idealist and fundamentally entrepreneurs that are fun at heart. So as the world gets smaller, our smiles get bigger. We welcome everyone to enjoy the magic of the Rangitikei River, Raft-Kayak-Camp!

Property information

The best part about Awastone is being along the river. It creates such a peaceful and relaxed place to visit. Our 4 bedroom ensuite is a well appointed and great for families. River activities, free walks, fishing, swimming and golf are all nearby activities. You can hear the river from your room. Although wifi is available, there is no TV or radio. We want you to enjoy the sounds of nature; the river, the birds and cliffs slipping. Back to nature in a comfortable environment.

Neighbourhood information

Rafting, Kayaking, Camping, Swimming, Cycling, Golfing, Walking, Fishing, Bird Watching, Historic Dam, Galleries, Museum, Railway Tunnels, but best of all Relaxing.
