Welcome to Nedre Svarverkjær Gård! Nedre Svarverkjær Gård is an enchanting retreat nestled in a serene forest clearing. Our beautifully refurbished farmhouse preserves its historic charm while offering modern comforts. The idyllic setting includes a picturesque apple orchard, creating a perfect haven for relaxation. The farm comprises five houses, and you will have access to the main house and the nearby shed. The house below the barn at the far end of the property is used by my parents. My mother is a beekeeper, and she may be around during the summer harvesting honey. Additionally, my uncles use the toolshed to build furniture, boats, and other cool items. While they are generally quiet, don't be surprised if you see them working there. Just a short walk from the farmhouse, you will find several pristine lakes ideal for swimming and fishing. We have modernized the property with a brand-new kitchen and bathroom while retaining the traditional farmhouse aesthetics. Enjoy the tranquility of our patio, furnished with a comfortable sofa, and unwind in our hammocks. Our home offers high-speed internet and a small Apple TV for your entertainment. You can also experience the cozy ambiance of a wood-burning fireplace—wood is provided for your convenience. We provide bed linen and towels for your stay. You will also find basic dry goods such as flour, sugar, salt, tea, and more, but please leave some coffee for my return. If you use a lot of the dry goods I would be happy if you replaced them. If you need anything else, the nearest shop is only 15 minutes away. We welcome pets, but kindly request that they remain on a leash to protect the abundant wildlife, including deer, badgers, hares, and roe deer. During the summer, you may also encounter domestic animals such as highland cattle, horses, sheep, and hens in the village. Hello! After spending many years working at sea in the polar regions, I am now based in Tromsø, focusing on sustainability. I am a biologist by education. My farmstay is located in my hometown in Telemark, a place I consider my little paradise. I deeply appreciate the tranquility of nature and the peaceful surroundings, though I also enjoy the hustle and bustle of a major city. However, I always find myself yearning to return home when city life becomes overwhelming. If you seek tranquility and stunning scenery, this is the perfect place for you! Nestled in a clearing in the woods, the house is surrounded by nature's beauty. Several lakes ideal for swimming and fishing are just a short walk away. Our neighbors offer canoe rentals, and we can arrange this for you if desired. Convenience is never far away, with the nearest shop located only 15 minutes from the farmhouse, run by my sister. Måjohamat, a 24/7 shop in Meikjær, also features a fitness center. For those wanting to explore further, it's about a 30-minute drive to Kragerø center in the south and 40 minutes to Porsgrunn in the north. A 1.5-hour drive will take you to the popular Bø Summerland. I highly recommend a visit to the Telemark Canal. The Telemark Canal was carved into the rock over 100 years ago and it was completed in 1892. The canal connects the coast of Telemark with the interior through eight locks over a distance of 105 km from Skien to Dalen. It consists of two waterways: Skien–Dalen and Skien–Notodden. You can experience the Telemark Canal by ferry, charter boats, your own boat, canoes, and kayaks. Or take the ferry to Jomfruland outside of Kragerø. Jomfruland, an island with unique scenery and an exciting history, is a gem in Kragerø's beautiful archipelago. You can find farms, beaches, and unique cottages spread across the island. In the age of the Vikings, it was known as Aur, meaning "gravel and coarse sand mixed with pebbles." Jomfruland emerged from the sea about 4,000 years ago after the last ice age as a moraine, still bearing witness to that history. Because of its geological significance, Jomfruland is part of the Gea Norvegica Geopark. The island is an important piece of Europe's geology, showcasing immense geological diversity in both national and international contexts. Since 2016, Jomfruland has been designated a National Park!
