Macau is the true east meets west philosophy. Buddhist temples coexist with Baroque churches, peaceful oriental parks are overshadowed by mega-casinos and cobblestone streets are filled with rickshaws.
Hong Kong’s neighbour across the Pearl River strait consists of the mainland that borders the People's Republic of China and 2 major islands joined by the Cotai Strip. Coloane island is a natural wonderland with its mountains and beaches, whereas Taipa includes Macau International Airport and residential suburbs.
The prominent Macau Tower dominates the skyline of this former Portuguese colony and denotes the coming of age of modern-day Macau. It has set the stage for an economic boom with Vegas-style casinos lining the Macau Peninsula waterfront.
Historic sites and cuisine are important factors in this shining tourism star of China. St. Paul’s Cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia at the time with its ruins dating back to the 16th century. The fusion of Mediterranean flavours and traditional Chinese cooking methods makes eating out in the capital an unforgettable experience.
You are sure to find a hotel to fit your budget on Booking.com. There are 5-star beachside hotels, business accommodation and mid-range hotels for all types of travellers.
It was the second time I visit Macau. The first time was before Covid lockdown. I like the city and the old colonial buildings but the people were the same. Most of them can't speak English and unfriendly especially the 40+ yo people. If you need help, you should ask young people. Internet on your mobile and Google Maps is the must!

The city's historical districts are beautiful, with preserved Portuguese heritage. The landscapes are also very nice, with tall and shinny Casinos. The cuisine is an interesting mix of Asian with Portuguese influences. People are kind and welcoming.
However, I was deeply disappointed by how the Portuguese language is not used at all in hotels, restaurants and public offices, even being an official language. In fact, I had the feeling that it might be even downplayed in purpose which was particularly sad to observe.
Besides the historical centre, you will most find big casinos and shoppings malls. The old part of Macau is mainly walkable although to move between points of interest (airport, ferry terminals) it was better to use taxis. Credit cards are not widely accepted so it is better to have cash. MOP, RMB and HKD (1:1) are accepted.

I would recommend to stay at Taipa area, where all the newer casino themed hotels are located. I particularly enjoy viewing the Grand Canal Shoppes inside Venetian Macao. Take a day to sight see St. Paul cathedral ruins, Senado Square and drop by the historical A-Ma temple. Enjoyed overall the good Cantonese and Portuguese cuisines.

The locals you meet are generally a hit or miss - either extremely friendly and hospitable, or terribly fierce. But nevertheless, still a great place to visit and enjoy the cool weather. Definitely explore the Cotai strip and the various light shows/ performances - this can probably keep you entertained and occupied for a couple of days. Take another day for the historical areas and maybe even the older casinos.

In some aspects Macau is an expensive version of China, with some areas looking rather tired and in need of upkeep, but there are plenty of European restaurants and cultural explorations to make it worth at least one visit. The hotels in my opinion are a bit overrated/overpriced, but fun for one visit to see what all the fuss is about (I live in mainland China). The lower prices here make it a good shopping trip for a long weekend break combined with some sightseeing - the Portuguese influenced areas with their narrow winding streets are nice to visit with plenty of small shops and interesting historical links.

It was Christmas when we visited the Ruins of Saint Paul and there was an orchestra to celebrate the event. The place was crowded but we're happy with the experience of walking to the ruins with a lot of free taste on the way.
Excellent hospitality , Memorable , value for money and excellent , (especially Mr.Roy service representative and Ms.Keya front desk - excellent work),

Very clean ,
Holiday Inn in Macau was an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel offered a variety of amenities that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious with a wide selection of options, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. We appreciated the attention to detail in every aspect of our stay. It was a wonderful experience, and we would definitely stay here again.
We chose the location because it was close to our family. It was also close to the bus stops and a lot of shops. Only 12 minutes walk to Gongbei Port (Macau/Zhuhai, China border). Due to recent opening of the hotel, they provided complimentary buffet breakfast. Only problem was that it was 1 breakfast per bed which means we had to purchase 1 more breakfast since we only received 1 free one for our double bed.
My partner is happy for all the services of this hotel
And I m happy they front desk noticed our need and they are very polite
They clean the room very quick, when u put your sign on the handle they can clear your room in 1 to 2 hours
Good location, people who never travelled to macau could search the bus easily on the outside of the hotel
Gym facilities/equipment are top notch. There are even sauna and steam room inside the changing room. Rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed at the Sky Tower and renovation sound was very soft although it starts from 9am. Hotel is just opposite Studio City and directly linked via Level 2 bridge to Londoner/Venetian/Parisian.
The hotel located on the hill which makes the view cool and is easy to access city by free shuttle bus. Breakfast wasn’t that great, limited choice. Staffs are helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable (we booked 3 rooms), price is cheaper than expected. We’ll definitely book this hotel again for our next visit.
This was a really well designed hotel and lots of little touches to make our stay really special such as complimentary drinks and snacks and kids activities in the room. Access to the Grand Resort Deck and the free shuttle between hotels was excellent. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back.
When we travel to Macau, we stay in this hotel most trips. It is very close to the city centre with many attractions and good restaurants nearby. The room is not big but is clean. The staff are very helpful. The Chinese restaurant in the ground floor is good for a dim sum breakfast.
Bang for buck this place, great hotels, giant room and very luxurious for the price. Location not the best in town but we got around.
The pool was good, refreshing and clean, everything like towels and slippers were provided. No swimming cap necessary.
The room was fantastic. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. It's like it's right out of the 70s. They really made us feel welcomed on our anniversary. It's quiet and removed form most of Macau, but that's part of the charm.
The hotel is good! Very good the cheapest option in ENTIRE MACAU, but they ask for s estupid deposit, it is nonsense! And the want to make the deposit striktly in Card or Cash i did not like that why a deposit for only 1 night
Really friendly helpfull staff, brand new hotel, good free shuttle services to other hotels, ferry and Macau central, fast WiFi, room, bathroom, fittings, furniture and linen are all on point. Close to all the casinos 🎰
Extremely clean room. We stayed in a 2BR suite . Really nice hotel, the staff are very accomodating. The service is fast. Beds are comfy, the toiletries, we love.
It was a great 4night stay with my adult children.
My parents really enjoyed their stay at The Venetian Hotel. The staff was really kind and even helped my parents find a place to stay when they had to stay longer in Macau because of the heavy rainfall in Hong Kong.
Good price considering the excellent location. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Clean and spacious room. Always our go-to hotel whenever we visit Macau. Friendly staff who helped us to arrange late check-out.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The staffs were very accommodating. They have recommended places to visit in Macao. We will definitely stay in this hotel again when we go back. I highly recommend this place.
Great view, thoughtful service, perfect facility, delicious meal. There are also many bus stop near the hotel and only 20 mins to ruin of Saint Paul’s. The hotel has own bus to the Macau Outer Port Wharf.
staffs are so friendly! they assist you any way they can! the property itself is very good! one of the best if not the best macau hotel we’ve stayee at. we will definitely come back here
As always, big rooms and lots of stores/restos inside the hotel. Hotel Wifi was superb! Walking distance to the newer hotels (Londoner/City of Dreams etc).
