Casa Nostra will handle all of your needs while in Livingston.
I stayed here for four days and it was very nice.
I stayed in one of the larger rooms that had two twin beds and a queen with cold A/C.
The food was fantastic having breakfast here and a couple of dinner's. Including the Tapado. YUM!
Stuart the Proprietor is on site and always around to answer any questions.
He had a bike for me to use and I rode all over. 👍
He can also arrange transport to Rio Dulce or back to Punta Gorda. Best thing is the boat picks you up right at his dock.
Will definitely stay here again.

Martha & her family did everything to make our 3 nights stay as good as possible. The bungalow was spacious, had nice hammocks on its balcony and clean bathroom. The location was ideal: close to nice highlights in Rio Dulce with kayak, while you could fully relax at Casa Maya.

Gorgeous riverside location, right in the heart of the jungle, surrounded by hummingbird and beautiful garden. Our room was in a separate cabin and had a private balcony with hammock and open air bathroom. Overall such a unique and memorable stay. Lovely food cooked by chef Victor, and manager Luis was wonderful - he took excellent care of us and organised our kayaking trips to the lagoons and Livingston.
It should be a tourist hot spot in Guatemala. Unfortunately the beaches are covered in trash. I wouldn’t recommend a visit to Livingston unless you’re passing through. If you happen to have some time in Livingston I recommend a trip to Playa Blanca and Siete Altares. The lancha to Playa Blanca only gives you an hour in Siete Altares so we went back the next day. Just take a tuktuk to the bridge and walk. It’s a great place to swim in cool fresh water in the jungle.

Unfortunately, I was there during the rainy season - day and night - rain. I would have stayed longer, but everything I had was damp or wet. Hostel is easily walkable from the lancha dock. Or you can take a tuc tuc for 10Q

It's a very interesting little town and it's really worth making sure that you go to the beach and part of town where the Garífuna community live. They seem rather excluded from the main benefits of tourism in the town which seems mainly owned by foreigners with Maya staff. I don't think the Garífuna benefit financially as much as they should from tourism. Try the restaurants over that side of town by the beach - Guamo Place was excellent for example.

Safe little town. Everyone seems very friendly.
Safe little town. Everyone seems very friendly. Sad that there is not more info and guidance into the original Garifundi culture unless you dig or start talking to some people. Not sure if it can be reached by land, but easiest is taking the boat from Porto Barrios.
Eat at Margoth's - LA Mama (soups are great) and Mc Tropic (I loved the Tajadas).
We liked everything. Our host was a lovely family of 3 children. The room we had was in a bungalow with a private bathroom, brand new high quality mattress, white linen and mosquitos curtains. Martha is a great cook. The couple was very attentive to details and made our stay very comfortable and easy. Casa Maya is closer to Livingston which allowed us going there by kayak by ourselves.
Thank you Martha, Herson, Dora, Lenin and Camila for this wonderful and authentic experience within a 'chapin' family.
The place is beautiful, perfect to shill out on the riverbank with ocean view-the other hotels in Lívingston do not have this location, the staff is super friendly and the owner knows the country very well and helps you with very valuable recommendations. . I recommend eating Tapado for dinner, it is an unforgettable experience and banana pancakes are the most delicious I have ever eaten in my life. Casa Rosada is a Gem to recomend and Livingston a beautiful caribbean town!!!
A very authentic place well taken care of by the host. Practical, with all you need for a pleasant stay in front of the sea. We enjoyed the calm, the beauty and the natural sounds of the night. The owner, Patrick, is a particularly caring person with a rare sense of humanity. Always ready to help and share information to make sure we made the most out of Livingston.
Thanks for welcoming us Patrick, we will come back soon!
I was totally amazed by this place. The Hotel Casa Maya is directly on the shore of Rio Dulce and offers a great view to this beautifull landscape. I don’t remember when i saw the stars the last time like that! With the Kayak you can go down to Livingston or visit the hot springs/hot cave just nearby. I can only leave the best words for the owners of Casa Maya. Helpfull and charming, offering tasty local dishes every day.
This property is a very nice time capsule from at least the 1960’s. The initial appearance from the water is not so good, but it is no worse than any of the other places in town. But once you step inside, you will notice that the hotel is very clean and well taken care of. The hosts were all very helpful to our needs and requests. The next time I am in Livingston, I would definitely stay at Posada El Delfín!
What a fantastic view when you open your window or stand on the hotel deck. I had my most beautiful sunrise standing by the river, with birds flying everywhere, just by the deck arranged by the hotel.
Everyone is kind and welcoming at this place. The food is very good and the garden very pleasant for a romantic dinner.
The room is spacious and had a lovely balcony. It is closed to the town center.
The location is amazing - right on the sea, with a lovely veranda to watch the pelicans flying over from. This is actually a Homestay, rather than a hotel. Sonny and his dog were lovely. Breakfast was simple - pastries, but more than adequate. Sonny kindly found us bedside tables, a bin and a great fan. He also let us use his kitchen and fridge.
The family is the most amazing, wonderful, kindest people. We loved staying with them and it felt like a homestay more than a "hotel" which we loved. The location cannot be beat. It was a quick kayak to hot springs, caves, waterfalls and food and they help arrange it all. This homestay experience was a great way to start our vacation!
All staff were great! The room was large and comfortable.
The owner was very helpful with trips to local attractions including a waterfall and offered bicycles for getting around town. We extended our stay several days and will return to Casa Nostra on our return to Livingston.
the private dock with hammocks was superb. the staff was very nice and very helpful, had lots of information and were able to organize tours as well. the food was good, expensive but about the same as any other restaurant in Livingston and portions were big enough to share.
Villa Caribe is a very nice hotel with a big swimming pool, well equipped bungalows with comfortable beds and a good restaurant with a lot of sea food. The staff is also professional. Special thanks to Luis for preparing us a coffee very early in the morning.
Location was spot on as we got the boat from Rio Dulce to the hotel and then the boat to PG picked us up from there. The staff were friendly. It was just a short walk from restaurants and the migration office.
Giovanni provided great service.a d e an walked us to a restaurant we wanted to go to. The hotel walls are nicely decorated to reflect t the Caribbean and the Garifuna culture.
It is extremely hot in Livingston, so the air condition was great. The pool is nice. The food is okay (but expensive compared to other places in Guatemala).
