We are on the third floor (roof top), in a traditional, safe and pretty suburb of Athens. We are slam bang in middle of all the important places you are going to want to get to. Our piece de resistance, is obviously our terrace - although we are in the center of a busy city, we have built an oasis of privacy with a tall picket fence and lush greenery. We have birds visiting us and you can hear the local birds through-out the day. The veranda is approx. 55m2, perfect for the morning coffee and late night drink to unwind. It is also very safe if you have children. Our house is an eclectic mix of traditional, arty and colorful objects. It is light and airy. As we live here (when not renting it out), this is a fully functioning home and there is nothing you would want for (from hair-tongs to bread-maker we have the lot). We want you feel free and at home here, but most importantly experience the true atmosphere of Greece living among the locals. The 2nd bedroom is also accessible from the lounge, it has a frosted glass door and curtains on that side to ensure privacy. If you are more than four people, ie. you have children, please note only couches are available for them to sleep.
Hi, we look forward to welcoming you into our home (I am Karon a New Zealander and my husband Yiannis is Greek). We have only recently begun hosting our home, but already have had the pleasure of meeting so many lovely people. My husband is retired and i am an endeavoring artist with some small success - you will find my pieces scattered all around the house (wish they were in other peoples' houses, but lets not go there!).
This is a typical Greek quiet and safe neighborhood, but with plenty going on. Wide streets with Seville orange trees along the footpaths. There is an open air cinema, plenty of cafes, restaurants etc. There are many supermarkets, with the nearest one being 2 blocks away. There are playgrounds, the nearest being three blocks away. Getting to the Acroplis, Plaka and Monistiraki is a 10min. walk to station and 7mins. metro ride, the Port of Pireaus is even closer. The hospital Metropolitan is 10mins. walk . Niarcos cultural center and park is a 15 mins. walk - 5mins. further on from here is the Planaturium. Three blocks away is the tram where you can visit the Commonwealth Wargraves Cemetry, the Greek cruiser Georgios Averof warship museum, the main Flisvos Marina complex (which has shops, restaurants etc.) and also the Village Cinema complex (which also has shops, restaurants etc.). The nerest swimming beach is a 10-20 trip depending on your means of transport (taxi, bus or tram).You can continue all the way to Glyfada on the tram, where you could visit the Sea turtle rescue center. Every Tuesday morning is the local farmers market, which is an experience in itself!
