Company information

We moved to Duddings over 25 years ago after many years of living and working in the London Area. Richard spent much of his childhood living on Exmoor, so the opportunity for us to move back to an area which he loved so much was something we couldn't turn down. Duddings started life as a farm in the 17th century and has grown and evolved since then. It's been a 'gentleman's residence' and a small hotel before the previous owners converted the barns and started the self-catering business. We have continued to update and improve the facilities over our time here. We feel lucky to be living in such a beautiful area and in a property with so much history. It's always a pleasure to welcome new guests and old friends. We can help advise on local cafes, pubs and restaurants, great areas to walk and ride, and local attractions. We live on-site and are here if you need anything, but otherwise, we will leave you to enjoy your stay,

Property information

Situated in the beautiful setting of the Avill Valley in the Exmoor National Park, West Somerset, we are 2 miles from medieval Dunster & 4 miles from Minehead. Duddings 4-star accommodation consists of a timeless 16th century thatched Longhouse that sleeps 12 along with 11 classic and spacious cottages with varying numbers of beds to best suit your needs, whether it be the Cleeve apartment in the South Barn- sleeping 2, or the Stable Cottages accommodating up to 16/18 people in 8 bedrooms. Well-behaved dogs are also very welcome. Our cottages are well equipped, and site facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool & spa bath, a hard tennis court, and a games room including table tennis, pool table and table football. Other facilities include a trampoline, a football goal, a play area with swings, a slide, a fireman’s pole and an assault course. Please let us know in advance if you require a cot and/or a high chair so that we can ensure they are in your cottage for arrival. For larger parties, we have a function room with a small kitchen, a dedicated games room and a loo that's available for hire. It has tables and chairs to accommodate over 70 people. Please reach out to us if you want to know more. The estate extends over 9 acres of land to be explored at your leisure, providing the perfect picnic area with a safe river.

Neighbourhood information

Exmoor offers pony trekking, hiking, fishing and sailing. The area is dotted with attractive villages, cosy pubs and cafes. Local attractions include Dunster Castle and Watermill, Minehead Harbour and Beach, Porlock Weir and the West Somerset Railway. Lynton and Lynmouth, Woody Bay, Watersmeet and the Valley of the Rocks are all within easy reach. Many beaches are dog friendly, and there are superb places to explore in the stunning Exmoor countryside. The nearest railway station is Taunton (24 miles), and the nearest airport is Bristol (51 miles)
