The Retreat is a self contained flat attached to our main family home. A former Victorian Presbytery and formerly nunnery we have spent the last 5 years renovating and restoring the property both inside and out. Where possible we have replaced and sympathetically adapted the building to meet todays modern standards.

My wife Donna and I live in the lakes and run a bespoke furniture manufacturing business, we have 2 daughters and love exploring new places. The Retreat is attached to our main family home so we are normally available most of the time. However we are happy to leave you to your own devices. When possible we would like to welcome you on check in, however if this isnt possible or not preferred there is an external key safe.

We are nearly exactly half way between the village of Windermere and Bowness - less than a 10 minute walk to either. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the road, and windermere train station is a short walk away too. If you are travelling by train we are happy to meet you at the station and drive you back to the property - this would need to be arranged prior to travelling! We walk pretty much everywhere, however there is a bus stop at the bottom of the road (less then 300m) and windermere train station is within a 10 minute walk. There are numerous Taxi firms, a list of numbers is available in The Retreat. There is a dedicated off road parking space for one vehicle when you stay at The Retreat. Please note we are quite close to 2 of the local primary schools.
