Location was ideal and we had a good experience with the staff - the young lady was very good, in checking us in she was attentive and thorough, and careful to check our expectations of the amenities. She had a natural talent for hospitality.

I booked a stay for me & my 5 YO during May half term. The price of the room including breakfast was very reasonable and the stay offered everything we needed. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good location for exploring the south Lakes (we weren't looking for a specific location and just adapted our itinerary to where we were) and option to eat on site as well as a huge lawn for my son to play on! Breakfast was great, plenty to set you up for a busy day exploring and food in the restaurant was hearty fare! I would undoubtedly return!
Cartmel is a beautiful village. We came for the Priory and the surrounding countryside. It's also quite a foodie centre, but if you want to try L'Enclume, don't expect just to turn up and get a table, its a Michelin restaurant and booked well in advance. The places we ate at included the Cavendish Arms (good Gourmet Pub food and excellent beer) and The Royal Oak, (good burgers).
There are several craft type shops. Also a shop specialising in the famous Cartmel sticky toffee pudding and local delicacies.
We stayed at the Priory Hotel, a good traditional hotel very much at the centre of the village.
Would absolutely recommend Cartmel - just be warned, if you visit during the racing season, parking might be a bit tricky.

I’ve said it for a while now that pubs in cartmel have let their standards drop significantly, they will always get bookings due to the races and events and can afford to be complacent. Most ( not pig & whistle ) charge to much and provide poor service.

Cartmel was great for our weekend away.
Cartmel was great for our weekend away. In itself, there is not a great deal to do unless the races are on, at which times I suggest it would be very busy, but it is a great staging post for multiple attractions within easy reach.
There are enough cafes, pubs and hotels in the village and all of those we patronised offered a warm welcome and good service. We stayed in the Cavendish Arms, ate at the Kings Arms and the Unsworth Courtyard and had a few cafe visits to the Mallard. I wholly recommend all three.

A compact and picturesque little village; a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants - not cheap, but very welcoming. We especially enjoyed the live music and pizza night on Saturday at the Cheese Shop. Excellent base as a location for exploring the Lakes; as long as you have access to bikes or a car - there's not much in the way of public transport.

Delightful, friendly, well-equipped and pretty village.
Delightful, friendly, well-equipped and pretty village. Some local walks were recommended by locals and were gorgeous. The shops are perfect, great selection of stock and utterly charming. The pubs are really good, the Royal Oak serves huge portions of well cooked and flavourful, homemade food with a friendly welcome. Easy drive to seriously beautiful spots of Keswick, Coniston and Windermere. Went to Cumbria zoo which is lovely. Not to mention the next level spectacular that is L’Enclume in the village. Highly recommend.

Caramel is a beautiful, small village with many pubs and restaurants and a few shops to browse. It’s peaceful and a lovely place to stop for a coffee or alcoholic beverage. There is a great cheese deli where you can choose from lots of different cheeses made locally and even try before you buy with a glass of wine or locally made ale. The famous mitchelin star restaurant L’Enclume is amazing and of course there is the famous sticky toffee pudding shop.
Was running late so informed hotel of later check in. On arrival, first thing I was asked was if I had eaten and space was found in the restaurant. Really appreciated as I knew they were fully booked. Members of staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Allowed to park motorcycle in Beer Garden to avoid parking ticket! Again really really appreciated.
Room was fine, but a shame window couldn't be opened as even with radiator turned off, way too hot for me.
Food was excellent and Cartmel is a lovely tucked away village.
Fantastic bed and breakfast in the epicentre of lovely Cartmel. Communication with Rachel prior to arrival was perfect. The hotel is beautiful, both the public areas and the room in which we stayed. The room, recently re-decorated, is as comfortable as it is beautiful. Modern bathroom, super comfrotable bed, tea kettle/espresso machine - who needs more? Breakfast was stellar, be it the full English or the continental. We'll be delighted to come back and we thank Rachel for making our weekend in Cartmel special!
We booked to visit Cartmel primarily to go to the races. On arrival at the hotel and on first sight of our room, we were blown away by how gorgeous it was. Amazing views of the racecourse and the beautiful grounds of the hotel. The staff were all lovely and the breakfast was delicious. Would love to go back there one day!
The Manor house in a beautiful location just outside Cartmel,, a very warm welcome as we arrived with a great sleep and a lovely welcome/good morning at breakfast there was everything you needed to start your day we would Deffinatly stay again.
Thankyou to all at the Manor house
Perfect location just a very short walk from the Village. Cottage was very clean, cosy and very well equipped. Owners very accommodating. Had a perfect few days away and would definitely recommend Causeway Cottage and will be on the list when we visit Cartmel again.
Staff - attentive, regularly checking service, but not over the top. Great views with beautiful sunset if you're lucky. Traditional restaurant menu (not classic pub food) chicken and steak meals we ordered were delicious, hot and plentiful. Good choice of hotel
The location. The house is in a quiet part of the village. Lovely view from the kitchen window. . We ate out all the time and found some lovely pubs in the village. We will definitely return to Cartmel.

Staff very welcoming and accommodating, breakfast basic but good, room lovely, location perfect - if you're going to Cartmel, you're not leaving it, so location is hard to get wrong!
