Wareham is an historic, Saxon-walled town, encircled by ancient earthen ramparts built by Alfred the Great in the 9th century to defend from Viking invaders. Skirted by the Rivers Frome and Piddle, there are many picturesque walks nearby, with great bird watching and incredible sunrise and sunset views. Trails start just down the lane - perfect for a little wander to explore the local area or for a quick dog walk. The town itself has a lively atmosphere, centred around the riverside Quay, with Saturday markets, regular events during the summer, and water-sports / private motorboat hire available. There are also lots of lovely cafes, pubs, and independent shops along the High street, including the award winning Italian Bakery, just a few doors down from the house!
