Noddsdale Estate has been in our family since 1922. Noddsdale House is set in gardens and woodland. Cottages were built in the same architectural style and wings added to the house to accommodate guests and staff in the 1920s and 30s. The Bell Loft was where the house staff lived and, since its makeover in 2010, has 2 double bedrooms. The Granary, which was for guests, has one bedroom. Children of 10 years and over are welcome in the wings, but no pets! Willow was a gardener's cottage and is suitable for children of any age, accessible for the less able and is dog friendly. There is a travel cot and high chair etc. Each double bedroom can either be super king or twin beds made up as requested. The grounds of the Estate are full of trees and shrubs and are most colourful in the Spring. There is a hydro electric scheme which was redeveloped in 2010 and the dam is up the hill behind the house. The tennis court is shared with whoever else is staying. Views from the hills are amazing on a good day looking over the Firth of Clyde to the Islands of Cumbrae, which is great for cycling around, Bute and Arran. Each property is completely different with its own character.
We are a family run small country estate just outside Largs. Having travelled with my husband, Chris whilst he was in the army, it was lovely to come home and stop moving every year as we had done for the first 14 years of our marriage. We celebrated our Ruby wedding in April 2019 with a marquee in the garden and a weekend of parties. We have a daughter and two sons. Our youngest son is married and became a father in 2018 and we are very proud grandparents! Chris and I are involved in various local organisations and enjoy different hobbies. I sing in two choirs and Chris curls in the winter. Given the chance, Chris loves sailing and we had many happy family holidays sailing up the beautiful West Coast of Scotland and abroad too. We both try to keep the Estate in good order and are always trying to stay on top of the many jobs! We love meeting all our many and varied guests from all over the world some of whom have become friends as they come back so often and we look forward to meeting you too!
Largs is a bustling seaside town on the West Coast of Scotland 35 miles from Glasgow. When the sun comes out, everyone comes to Largs! There are some lovely cafes and restaurants locally including Nardini's cafe, an Art Deco building renowned for ice cream and fish and chips! Golf courses in Ayrshire abound. The views are stunning on a good day. The Islands of Cumbrae, Bute and Arran are all completely different and offer wonderful days out. Cumbrae is 11 miles round and almost completely flat, so is a cycling must! Bute has the astonishing Mount Stuart House and Arran is often called Scotland in miniature with Goat Fell, the mountain to climb, distilleries, Brodick Castle and golf courses too. Ferries to all 3 islands are frequent. Dumfries House, at Cumnock, saved for the nation by HRH The Prince of Wales is a fascinating property and the grounds are being recreated in the most amazing way. Glasgow is an hour by train with museums and galleries as well as concert halls and great shops too if that floats your boat! Otherwise, stay calm at Noddsdale and just enjoy the peace and quiet and recharge batteries before heading back to the real world!
