Property information

Featuring exposed beams, a traditional inglenook fireplace and rustic styling throughout, The Beekeeper's Cottage is a sensory delight. Located in the village of Barney, this former 18th century bakehouse makes an idyllic romantic hideaway perfect for couples, or a family, to escape to at any time of the year, with the added bonus of an enclosed garden and secure bike storage.

Neighbourhood information

The village of Barney is nestled in rural Norfolk, five miles east of Fakenham. The village settled prior to the coming of the Normans, and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Berlei' which may derive from Old English for 'Barley Island'. This pretty and peaceful rural village is a superb base from which to explore both rural and coastal North Norfolk at any time of the year. Pensthorpe Natural Park and The Hawk & Owl Trust are on the doorstep. Nearby Thursford Wood contains some of the oldest oak trees in Norfolk, plus an excellent display of spring bluebell, summer ferns and autumn fungi. Thursford town is famous for its Christmas Spectacular and Steam Collection. A mere twenty-minute drive will take you to the beautiful North Norfolk coastlines of Wells-next-the-Sea, Stiffkey and Blakeney, where you can discover charming coastal villages, great gastro pubs, fantastic wildlife and so much more. For boutique shopping, the popular Georgian market town of Holt is a fifteen-minute drive away. The town is home to many art galleries, antique and book shops, and places to eat located along the high street and tucked away in hidden, charming courtyards and alleyways. There is also a monthly market that features artisan food and drink amongst other small local business stalls set to live music. For a fine dining experience, book a table at The Pheasant or Morston Hall. Be submerged in the areas history at Binham Priory, one of the most complete and impressive monastic ruins in Norfolk, or take a tour of Hindringham Hall and Gardens. Slightly further afield, Holkham Hall and its vast expansive beach are not to be missed. The nearby market town of Fakenham has a fantastic Thursday market, a popular Racecourse, plus plenty of amenities including supermarkets and petrol stations.
