** Southdown B&B has been closed for essential maintenance from October 2023 to May 2024 (hence the lack of reviews!) but is now fully open for your stay! ** You'll find a warm welcome, and a great breakfast, at Southdown B&B - an extended 300 year old cottage situated in beautiful rural countryside on the Hartland Peninsula between Higher Clovelly and Hartland. With wonderful guest bedroom views across open farmland out to sea, Southdown B&B is set on the North Devon Hartland Heritage Coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and in an ideal location for those looking to stay in a very rural location. You can visit the many wonderful attractions of the area including the unique fishing village of Clovelly which is a short drive away. We have maps, guides to help you plan your stay if needed. Our comfortable guest bedrooms are ensuite, and (weather permitting!) they have sea views across Bideford Bay. They also have free Wi-Fi, 32" Freeview TV, hairdryers, soap, shampoo, towels and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast is served in our guest breakfast room. We have free off road parking on site.

Southdown is set in a very rural area of Higher Clovelly in North Devon, two miles from the unique car-free fishing village of Clovelly (sledges and donkeys only!) - often described as England's prettiest village. Guests love the relaxed atmosphere of the local villages, the very friendly local people, and the wonderful Devon Cream Teas! It is a great walking area and there are many stunning walks within a few miles of us, including the Tarka Trail (great for cycling!) and some of the most rural parts of the South West Coast Path- and we're in a great location for exploring North Devon and North Cornwall by car. There are many local(ish) gardens to visit, including the Royal Horticultural Society Garden Rosemoor at Torrington. Other local attractions that can be visited are Lundy Island, Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum, Hartland Abbey, Tapeley Park and Gardens, the Tarka Trail, Appledore, Dartington Crystal, Hartland Quay and the Shipwreck & Smuggling Museum, Quince Honey Farm, Milky Way Adventure and Wake Parks, the North Devon Maritime Museum - and many many more.
