Very unique stay in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Location is excellent, a 5 min walk from the new Battersea tube station and lots of shops and restaurants. It is surprisingly spacious and comfortable for being on a boat!

Feel at home aboard this newly renovated North Sea Trawler and enjoy lovely views of the River Thames. Docked moments away from the heart of London, this floating landmark nestled in Tideway Village is the perfect starting point for exploring the city. The St Michael, as seen in the New York Times, pairs the ship’s original features as a seafaring vessel with a modern and stylish interior - offering an authentic and unforgettable stay in a truly unique space. -- About where you'll be staying: The Midships flat has been renovated over a number of years, once serving as functional spaces for the St Michael's mission to trawl the hardy waters of the North Sea. The kitchen, previously housing an enormous winch, is well-equipped and is connected to the spacious and airy open-plan living room & dining space, custom-built around the teak foredeck. Down the stairwell, built into what was once one of the St Michael's 4 fuel tanks, you'll find the fishroom - now 2 bedrooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms - as well as a utility room with washing machine and dryer, alongside other amenities. In case you need extra space, the sofa upstairs folds out into a comfortable double bed.
I'm Joe, and together with my family we have been hosting guests from around the world since September 2020 when we opened the St Michael to anyone looking for stylish and unique accommodation for work, holidays or just quick getaways! The St Michael is an ex-North Sea Trawler (a big fishing boat, technically a ship as she was a sea-faring vessel) which was bought in 1996 by my father, Rainer, and his partner. He spent the next 2 decades converting the St Michael into a liveable vessel, now divided into 3 apartments. 4 tenants live at the front and 2 at the back, now 3 as they have a new-born daughter! Rainer passed away in 2012, so since then Jane, Matthew and I have been keeping the boat going. We've been hosting the middle flat as an AirBnB since September 2020 and have loved the journey so far - it's wonderful meeting people from around the world and knowing we could help make their holidays unforgettable, with a truly unique stay in the heart of London.
The St Michael is situated in Nine Elms, an area within Vauxhall which has been broadly rejuvenated from light industrial to residential, with many interesting housing developments nearby, along with useful shops and amenities (dubbed "Thames City") - as well as the New American Embassy which is a very short walk down the road. The Tideway Dock in which she is moored is a beautifully landscaped plaza with plenty of greenery and seating. As well as the quirky Tideway Village of 2 fellow houseboats "Newark" and "Layla", it contains The Black Cab Coffee Co. (great coffee & pattisserie), Chokhi Dhani (a lovely Indian restaurant) and the welcoming Nine Elms Tavern, an elegant modern pub with a maritime theme that serves great food. Across the road you'll find a Waitrose (the UK's high-end supermarket) with underground parking and a small Sainsbury's to serve your grocery needs. There are also Santander bikes available for hire by the roadside which are a nice way of getting around. The wider area contains some notable landmarks; MI6 and the Tate Britain down the road, followed by the Houses of Parliament and the Southbank - all a very short 10-15 mins by bus or cycle. Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, and many other iconic tourist sites are similarly around 25 minutes away by bus. In the other direction, you'll find the iconic Battersea Power Station which now has a series of restaurants and venues along its Riverside Walk. A little further, you'll find Battersea Park - a well-kept green space with vast greens, ponds and woodlands as well as the thames path and the London Peace Pagoda.
