Marina Cottage, Newark. (3 night minimum booking). Dog friendly self catering holiday accommodation. Riverside walks in the park directly opposite. Cosy Victorian cottage opposite the historic Sconce & Devon Park which contains the original Civil War earthwork, the Queen's Sconce. We are a short walk to the River Trent, Marina and local pubs. 10 minute walk to Newark town centre with its multitude of restaurants, pubs, town square with weekly markets and quality shopping etc. Access to all areas except the airing cupboard and cellar. Within the park opposite is Rumbles Cafe (1minute walk). Very convenient for breakfast, a coffee and snack during the day (opening times vary). We are less than 5 miles from Eden Hall Day Spa too. Marina Cottage is pet friendly too! We welcome a well behaved dog or two. The park opposite is ideal for dog walking, with its woodland trails and riverside walks etc. We also have an outdoor hot & cold dog wash. We are approx. 6 miles from Newark Showground, via the A46. Off street parking is available at the front of the cottages on a 'first come first served' basis. We do not have a designated parking space. Please note that the stairs are steep, typical of this type of cottage, and as such may not not be suitable for young children or elderly guests.

We will not be around to meet you, sorry to say, but our cottage manager Christina lives just a few doors down the road. Chris will be available during your stay.

There are a number of villages nearby to visit, one being Collingham, 8.5 miles north of Newark (15-20 minute drive). Here you will find the community run pub The Royal Oak. The pub offers an excellent choice of food and ales etc. Also ideal for a Sunday Lunch. The address is: The Royal Oak, Station Road, Collingham NG23 7RA. For those interested in the English Civil War, the National Civil War Museum is within 15-20 minutes walking distance. Also, the historic Sconce and Devon Park is directly opposite the cottage. The Queens Sconce earthworks represents Englands finest remaining example of Civil War military engineering. It is also believed to have included within its defences unusual features such as pitfalls, the use of which sources suggest was extremely rare during the campaign.
