Ings Village is an ideal base for a days cycling, for walking or for a cycling or for a walking holiday. There is an excellent award-winning pub The Watermill which brews it's own beer and serves great food too, a delightful new café, a state-of-the-art bike-store, and a filling station with shop. Ings is situated on a cycle route which runs alongside the A591 and gives access to both road and mountain biking trails. The River Gowan flows through the village and is home to herons, dippers and the native white-clawed crayfish. You'll see buzzards and on occasion a red kite or a red squirrel. There are walks here for all and with Staveley just a few miles away which leads into Kentmere Valley for those who love more of a challenge . We have free parking spaces for up to 5 cars at Bankfield. The 555 bus runs all day and provides easy links to Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick or the other direction into Staveley and Kendal. Bankfield is just set back off the A591 which is perfect for driving into the Lakes and beyond, turn right from the driveway for Windermere or turn left from the driveway to Staveley and Kendal.
