his small but atmospheric cottage is just a few steps from the harbour in the heart of the famous village of Port Isaac. The living room / diner and separate kitchen are both limited in size and headroom but that is all part of the charm of staying in a cottage such as this in the middle of such a wonderful village. The bedrooms are both twins (due to the difficulty of getting large furniture upstairs) and located on the first and second floor. Stepping out of the stable door onto Middle Street is like stepping into pure Cornwall! A lovely narrow lane leading to the charming harbour and beach that Port Isaac is so famous for. The Slipway Hotel, the pubs, the coffee shops and of course Doc Martin's house are all here. Please bear in mind that Fisherman's Cottage is an old cottage with narrow steep stairs, low ceilings and of limited size.

Port Isaac, tucked away on the North Coast between Padstow and Boscastle, has recently been home to the television series 'Doc Martin' with Martin Clunes. Although previous years have seen the series Poldark film here and in nearby Port Quinn. Much of the village is 18th and 19th century and there a wonderful narrow streets and alleyways to explore. It is a maze of narrow lanes and pathways known as "drangs" with only one road through, along which traffic is discouraged. The houses are traditional stone built, slate hung cottages. As with many places in Cornwall, once having relied heavily on fishing and fish processing, the village now caters for many visitors with plenty of shops and eateries for the frequent visitors. In the heart of the village are a pub, two hotels, two cafe / bistros. There are other pubs and a cafe at the top of the village. There is a bakery, delicatessen, fishmongers and a well stocked Co-op supermarket. Fish may also be bought from the local fish merchants in the fish cellars by the harbour. There are also the usual art and craft shops.
