The Dorstan is owned and operated by our family of Richard, Maki, Harvey and Milly the dog! We live on the premises and we’re drawn to the house by the lovely old features of a house built in 1872! But properties of this age have some quirks in addition to their character! All part of the charm!

The Dorstan is a lovely detached Victorian villa (1872) with traditional features and run by owners Richard and Maki, so you can be assured of a warm and personal service whether on business on holiday. We offer a ‘traditional’ style accommodation in our private house. Rooms have everything you need for your stay. But we are not a boutique accommodation and please view of photo gallery which will show you what we offer and the types of rooms and why you should expect. Our emphasis is on providing comfortable, character accommodation but at reasonable costs for a city stay. We monitor our prices against our peer group so we can offer good competitive value for money. We now have door codes and contactless arrival to meet guest requirements for longer check in times. We send these codes a day or so before your arrival date, so please heck your messages for this. Located in a quiet residential area of Edinburgh but only 0.8 miles from the Old Town with excellent bus service just 50m away. There is a private car park for 4 guest cars, it is free subject to availability and not reservable. There is also free on street parking available. After a quiet and comfortable night we also bring a free, light continental breakfast to your room to start your day. We do not have a breakfast room or lounge. The continental style breakfast menu includes example choices of fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt with fresh berries/granola/maple syrup, croissant with jam or filled with smoked salmon/scrambled egg/Parma ham/cheese/etc. We have vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free options. Please see menu in our photos. You may choose from ensuite rooms single bed, double bed, twin beds. And ensuite triple and quadruple rooms. There are also two budget single bedrooms each with own private bathroom just outside the room. All rooms have full central heating, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer. Bed linens, towels, soap and shampoo are provided. There is free Wifi.

Edinburgh is one of Europe’s best known cities; with historical and cultural links both past and present. No matter what interest visitors may have they will be superbly catered for in this beautiful capital city.
