Characterful, colourful home-from-homes, all our properties are filled with Claire's paintings, comfortable furniture and well equipped for self catering. Lovely private gardens and close proximity to the coast path and West Cornwall's finest beaches makes us a perfect base for an outdoorsy holiday!
We love West Cornwall. We've lived and worked here for over 25 years and have set up Raftra Retreats in order to offer you the opportunity to experience the magic of this wild and beautiful place too. Claire is an artist and art tutor, and offers on site art classes, and Toby is an outdoor counsellor. The property sits within a 4 acre field which they are gradually planting with trees and hedges to encourage wildlife; there are many nesting birds here, plus bats and barn owls, red deer, badgers and foxes.
Raftra is a small hamlet on the road to Porthgwarra Cove.....one of the locations for the recent Poldark series. You can walk along pretty foopaths through farmland and moorland right from the door....and reach the coastpath in 20 minutes or so. Walk for half an hour and you'll come to the beautiful coves of Porthgwarra, Porthchapel and Nanjizel. ​It is 5 minutes drive from Porthcurno, Sennen, St Buryan and Lands End, 20 minutes from Penzance and St Just. We are a bit off the beaten track here....the roads get narrower as you approach us and the last 100 metres of your journey is along a slightly bumpy farm track which can be muddy or dusty depending on the weather.
