Property information

Burnthwaite Farm is a traditional farmhouse bed & breakfast as well as a fully working farm with both cattle and traditional Lakeland Herdwick sheep. Situated at the head of the Wasdale Valley, the farm covers part of the flat valley floor and a large area of upland fells. With direct access from the door to Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain), Scafell, Great Gable & Kirkfell (amongst many others) as well as Wastwater (England's deepest lake), Burnthwaite is the perfect base to stay for walkers, climbers, wild swimmers and those that just want to get away from it all. The local pub is just a 10 minute walk away where you can get an evening meal and real ale. We're also very close to the coast with some beautiful beaches, so if you fancy getting out of the hills to breathe some sea air, our closest beaches are just approx. 12 miles away in Drigg, Seascale & St Bees. Burnthwaite has been a working farm since the 1600's and taking guests since the 1700's as people travelled east on the pack horse route over Styhead Pass.

Neighbourhood information

Wasdale Head is a walkers, climbers and wild swimmers paradise. With access to some of the UK's highest mountains and deepest lake, it presents some of the UK's most beautiful scenery and farmland.
