Satterthwaite enjoys a peaceful, picturesque location between the lakes of Coniston and Windermere, just south of Hawkshead village. To the north, Grizedale Forest is an intriguing network of walking routes, cycle paths and sculpture trails. Lake Windermere lies to the east, and a car-ferry crossing can take you across the lake to explore the lively attractions of Bowness village. Also close by is the village of Near Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter famously lived and was inspired to write her children's stories.
