Situated on the Morvern Peninsula, across from the Isle of Mull, Ardtornish House Victorian Apartments offers unique self-catering accommodation in a late 19th Century Mansion House. Each apartment has it's very own character and retain their original victorian charm whilst having been sympathetically upgraded with all of the modern comforts. A stay in any of our apartments includes linen, Starlink Wi-Fi and a starter pack of logs & kindling. Ardtornish Farm Shop sells a selection of homemade ready meals and meat reared on our land, together with Wild Venison. You can pre-order meals to be waiting for you upon arrival. There is plenty to keep guests busy in the area. Local activity providers offer mountain biking, wildlife tours, bespoke boat trips, guided wild swimming and more. For guests wishing to visit The Isle of Mull, the ferry can be caught from Lochaline, just 3 miles down the road. As one of the most densely populated areas in Scotland for Otters, Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles & Pine Marten, Morvern is a fantastic choice for those looking for a wildlife experience. Lochaline is home to the award-winning Whitehouse Restaurant and there are further dining-out options in our neighboring estates and villages. There is a well stocked shop, pub, e-vehicle charging points and petrol station in Lochaline village. We will do everything we can to ensure you have the most enjoyable stay at Ardtornish. Just one of the reasons our guests return again and again.

Lovely property, very clean, Wi-Fi connection was very good. Although attached to the bunkhouse, it was very quiet in the room. Beautiful surroundings, and watching the herd of deer in the field was one of the highlights of breakfast. Gift shop...

Company information

Ardtornish is a working Estate; along with our self-catering accommodation we also have a working farm which produces meat for the Farm Shop, a productive Kitchen Garden and hydro schemes. I am the Events & Accommodation Coordinator, so it is my job to answer any questions about our properties and how to make the most out of your trip to our special part of the West Coast, making the most of the activities and trips available in the area.

Property information

Ardtornish is special place where heritage meets country living, and a community comes together with a shared passion – to breathe life into a magical Highland estate, and to welcome visitors from near and far to discover the charm of Ardtornish. Ardtornish House can be hired exclusively, sleeping up to 46 people. Otherwise, the house can be hired in four seperate Victorian Apartments; The Nursery Flat, The Garden Flat, The South Wing and The Billiard Flat. Each room of Ardtornish House has its own tale to tell. The Victorian interiors and original features will take you back to the days of Downtown Abbey and the surrounding area, full of wildlife and countrysde to explore, will no doubt leave you wanting to return, as most of our guests do. The garden at Ardtornish has been sculpted out of a rocky hillside & from every part boasts extensive views south-west along Loch Aline to the hills of the Isle of Mull.

Neighbourhood information

Where to start with things to do while holidaying at Ardtornish? Whilst a lot of the Scottish Highlands have become inundated with visitors, the local area really has managed to remain somewhat of a secret from the usual tourist routes. It is pure, untouched beauty. Morvern and neighbouring Ardnamurchan are one of the most abundant places in the Highlands to see Pine Martens, Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles and Otters, with Red Squirrel sightings becoming increasingly common, making the area very popular with wildlife lovers. If you are looking to spend some adventerous days with us, local activity providers offer SUP's, mountain biking, target sports, guided walks, photography day trips, guided wild swimming and wildlife watching tours. There are also a few fantastic restaurants in the area which come highly recommended. Just a ten minute drive from Ardtornish, you can catch a ferry from Lochaline onto The Isle of Mull, giving you access to the famous village of Tobermory and the romantic Isle of Iona with it's majestic abbey ruins. Whilst we are remote, the village of Lochaline is just 3 miles from the door and offers a well stocked shop, pub, post office, laundry services, pontoon and snack bar. Ardtornish has a Farm and Gift Shop where you can purchase homemade ready meals, Ardtornish meat, wild venison, snacks, beverages and souveniers. We will even have these waiting for you in your apartment upon arrival. The town of Fort William is 1 hour away (via the Corren Ferry). Here you will find larger supermarkets, mountain bike park, cinema, restaurants, climbing centre and of course.....Ben Nevis!
