The Cider House is an 18th century farm building overlooking the Isole valley which was originally used to store the locally produced cider. The cottage was built over 150 years ago in the traditional Breton style using local granite and renovated in its entirety in 2018/19. It is made up of two spacious bedrooms; the master bedroom with a queen size bed and the second room with two double beds. There is a separate WC in addition to the fully equipped shower room. The lounge has a double sofa bed for additional accommodation if required and a large flat screen TV with British and French channels. The open plan kitchen/dining area is equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, dish washer, washing machine and american style fridge freezer. A barbeque area and terrace are available to make the most of the idyllic country setting. The house is fully equipped for babies and small children with high chairs and cot facilities, don't hesitate to contact us in advance with any questions or requests that could make your stay more comfortable (particularly for our smallest visitors!). We are also dog friendly.
We are a Franco-British family with two children and two dogs. We bought the house in 2014 and have been renovating ever since! We are just one season into our hosting experience and have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our guests from numerous places near and far. A very rewarding and multicultural experience!
Miles of unspoilt coastline await, ideal for exploration on foot along the coastal path, from the beach or from off shore. Le Pouldu and Guidel are some of our favourites, the latter famous amongst the surfing community. The area has some great fresh local seafood, the oysters are particularly good when in season. And Brittany is of course renowned for its crepes and cider; we can recommend our favourite creperies for a very affordable meal out and local cider producers with orchard tours. We can recommend kayaking the river Laita from Quimperle down to the beach at Le Pouldu or the pony rides in the Toulfoen forest. Road biking and mountain biking are popular in the area, and with a footpath passing just metres from the cottage it is ideally placed for exploration of the beautiful Breton countryside on foot. Lorient hosts the yearly interceltique festival which gather celts from far flung places to celebrate the music, food, dancing and folklore. With a yearly draw of nearly 800,000 people there is plenty to see and do for all ages. On a smaller scale the local town of Quimperlé hosts a yearly street theatre festival, the RIAS, with music and performances throughout the area.
