Aÿ, the village of the kings of France in the 16th century, is ideally placed for visiting Champagne (5 min. from Epernay and 35 min. From Reims). In a very quiet area, the accommodation is located next to the house where the famous master glassmaker René Lalique was born (a dedicated walking tour starts in front of the apartment). The Ay vineyard is classified as the highest in the Grand Cru appellation and its historic hillsides are listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. They are only 2 min. walk from the apartment as well as the mansions and vineyards of prestigious Champagne Houses such as Bollinger and Deutz. There are also Champagne Ayala, Henri Giraud, an unmissable museum called "Pressoria", Goyard Distillery ( the oldest in Champagne created in 1911), as well as around thirty winegrowers to explore by foot and to taste ! In the neighboring villages are Champagne Billecart Salmon, Philipponnat, Jacquesson... The village center is just 5 min. walk. You will find all the amenities there : bakeries, butchers, bars, restaurants (Henri 4, Avarum, Calsis, le 1960, Atelier Baillet, la Frigousse ...). Ay train station is 10 min. away on foot (5 min. by train to Epernay/30 min. for Reims) and you also have Epernay/Ay buses. Easy and free park in the street.
