A 17th Century Maison De Maître situated on the outskirts of a lovely quiet village with amazing gardens and grounds, secluded areas and a fantastic entertainment area where you can sit upstairs on the mezzanine relax and look over the valley at the woods and read a book or just chill. Near enough for easy access to the N10
Friendly couple who enjoy entertaining and welcoming their guests. Happy to give advice on tourist locations, days out and suggestions on what to do or where to go. Willing to accommodate guests requests when needed including meals We try to use products that we grow, for meals, We also have chickens and ducks and use their eggs where possible too. We have a wood fired bread oven and most of the breads are made on site while we also bake pizzas or stews in the oven. There is also a gas barbeque available and we have themed evenings some nights, of pizza, barbeque or curry all home made. Afternoon teas are also a speciality amongst friends. The outside cooking/entertainment area has other surprises to! Check in and out times can be altered on discussion
Close to the town of Ruffec there are many places to visit including Abbaye Notre-Dame de Nanteuil or the Chateau at Verteuill sur Charente with it's charming bars and restaurants. The roads are ideal for cycling and rambling. There are many popular cycling routes within easy access. Easy drive to the N10 for the walled city town of Angouleme or carry on to Cognac for the sites and tours of the Distilleries or boating down the river Charente. The popular Theme park Futuroscope is an hours drive. The historic port of La Rochelle is an easy drive away with it's markets and shopping plus the beach at Royan is just down the coast from there. The sophisticated city of Bordeaux is also found down the N10 with it's culture, shopping and nightlife. Michelin starred restaurants can be found at both La Rochelle and Bordeaux
