La Vieille Laiterie is situated in a quiet rural location with the local beauty spot " the Roche Aux Cerfe " ( Stags Rocks ) five minutes walk away with its stream and ancient stepping stones. This leads on to lovely woodland walks with numerous birds and wild flowers or along the river Lie. The house has a lovely cosy feel, comfy beds in large rooms with private bathrooms, hospitality tea and coffee trays, free Wifi connection and a large garden with views of the Forest of Loudeac and the Breton Countryside. An information file which includes contact telephone numbers on places to eat and pictures of places to explore, is provided in each room. Guests will also have access to a large airy ground floor breakfast / sitting room with comfy seating, glazed door to the front patio and free Wifi connection. The large private garden with seating is available when the weather permits.
Eight minutes drive away in Plessala there is a small super market with petrol/diesel and in-house local butcher and bakery, a bank with a 24hr cash point, a chemist, pub/tabac and a park with a lake to stretch the legs. A further ten minutes drive is the historic town of Moncontour which offers a favourite restaurant of ours, " La Mulette ", specialising in locally caught fish as well as other local dishes, and is open most days for lunch or evening meals. Moncontour also offers an excellent traditional bakery, a pizza restaurant, a 24hrs pizza kiosk that offeres a takeaway service and a galette/crepe restaurant in the centre of town. A larger supermarket, Super U, is situated 20minutes away in Plemet. In many of the local villages including Plessala are weekly markets selling local crafts, locally caught fish and other organic produce, the largest of these is at Lamballe on a Thursday morning.
