The perfect peaceful, classy getaway or a venue for gatherings and company off-sites Villa Kingfisher is a home, not a hotel. For twenty years we have worked on this historic building to turn it to our place to relax and to entertain. Now we are opening it to a few guests per season. It is perfect place to take a few days off in a classy and peaceful environment or arrange a family gathering or a company off-site. The building was designed by then famous Waldemar Aspelin, and built in 1917, the year Finland became independent. Originally it was a public sauna and the center of social life in the surrounding Åminnefors ironworks village. It even had its own beach and a pier for the riverboat carrying cargo from and to the harbor. It was later turned into a boatyard for a few years, and then when we bought it, into a private residence. Today, after having restored or rebuilt every inch of the house, it has four bedrooms, a library, a study and a lounge that connects to a large open kitchen. From the kitchen and the lounge, glass doors open to the terrace and garden connecting the indoor and outdoor areas. There's one large bathroom downstairs and a small toilet upstairs. There's also a separate sauna building on the property that has a dressing room, shower room and the sauna. The sauna has a wooden stove and is at the guests' disposal but has not yet been renovated to meet the same standards as the main house. The property is 5000 m2 (1,24 acres) and is situated between Åminnentie (historic Kings Road) and Mustio river. It has plenty of apple, plum and cherry trees and plenty of room for outdoor activities. There's a fire bowl and garden furniture for cosy summer evenings.

We bought the house in 2000 and have thoroughly renovated it to be a home and a place to entertain. Now it is time to open Kingfisher for guests who enjoy rustic luxury in a historic environment. We know the area well and are happy to assist you to make the most out of your stay.

Nearby you can find Nordcenter Golf & Country Club that offers golf, tennis and dining., Nearby you can also find riding stalls, canoe rentals and some of the best mountain bike trails in Finland. An atmospheric walking/biking/riding path leads to two nearby ironworks villages, Fiskars and Billnäs. Both offer historic sites, restaurants, live music and shopping. The wildlife in the area, even around the villa, is plentiful. With patience and some luck you may even spot out namesake bird, the kingfisher.
