These traditional timber-built cottages feature open fireplaces, private saunas and barbecue facilities in the popular Ruka-Kuusamo skiing area. Holiday Club Ruka Cottages include fully-equipped kitchens. Each cottage at Holiday Club Ruka comes with modern interiors, a drying cabinet and barbecue facilities. Firewood is provided for the open log fire, and guests can relax in the living area with the TV and DVD player. The surrounding woods are popular for berry picking and hiking in the warmer months, especially the Karhunkierros “Bear Run” route. Just 20 minutes’ drive from the cottages in Kuusamo guests can enjoy horse riding, white water rafting and canoeing. In the winter months Kuusamo has an extensive network of cross-country ski tracks, while just over 10 minutes’ drive away is the ski resort of Ruka, with 28 slopes, husky safaris and reindeer farms. Ruka Golf Club is a 10-minute drive away and the cottages are 12 mi from Kuusamo Airport.

Holiday Club Ruka’s log cabins are located near Pulkkajärvi lake, approximately 10 km from Ruka’s ski slopes.

Neighborhood info

The skiing season at Ruka usually begins in October and lasts until after the first of May. There are 28 slopes totalling 400 km. Local companies provide programme services that will take you on snowmobile safaris (as many as 500 km of trails), husky and snowshoe safaris, and on trips to reindeer farms. Kuusamo has magnificent hiking terrain, as well as Finland’s most popular hiking route Karhunkierros (‘bear run’) and the country’s longest summer sled track. You can also go canoeing, white-water rafting, horse-back riding, mountain biking, and play golf on Ruka’s golf course. The colourful autumn also offers an excellent holiday setting: abundant catches of fish, berry-picking, mushroom-picking and game hunting are excellent ways to spend an active holiday. The Holiday Club Kuusamon Tropiikki spa and other services are just 15 minutes away
