El Geco Verde is an eco-friendly country house featuring renewable energies in the recently established Geopark of Granada, not far from the charming whitewashed village of Castril. This is a secluded location, surrounded by nature and tranquility. From the hotel´s veranda or terrace you can enjoy stunning and uninterrupted country and mountain views plus incredibly dark skies at night, perfect for stargazing! El Geco Verde has been run by the same family since 2010. Our closest village, Castril, with it famous river, natural park and suspended walkway is 13kms by road. There is a farmtrack of 3kms from the hotel to the main road The nearby Cazorla and Castril Mountains are famous for their spectacular waterfalls, caves and gorges, as well as being home to many birds of prey. Rooms at El Geco Verde are simple and elegant, with rustic touches. All doubles and family rooms have central heating, TV and private bathrooms. Central heating runs on crushed olive stones, a plentiful and renewable local resource. Communal areas benefit from free WiFi and include a spacious dining room with pellet burning stove, and a cosy library/TV lounge with log-burning fireplace. The hotel offers free onsite parking for guests. Granada and Almería Airports are both less than 2 hours' drive from El Geco Verde. El Geco Verde has been welcoming Booking.com guests since 11 Aug 2010.

Rural Andalucia provides the perfect backdrop; stunning scenery, authentic Spanish gastronomy, culture and traditon; like stepping back 50 years in time! But you don´t have to rough it; we designed the house to offer modern comforts in an off-grid setting. Good passive design, extensive recycling, solar panels and biomass heating help us get the balance right. El Geco Verde's secluded location steals many hearts, but it´s not for everyone. A spirit of adventure could be your best travelling companion! Be prepared to abandon the GPS as you negotiate the 3km farmtrack to our front door; Peace, seclusion, endless views await you– in other words a truly authentic rural retreat. Our aim is comfort, not five star luxury. At the house we oferr a basic breakfast and fixed menu dinners. To ensure the freshest ingredients and minismise waste we operate a policy of pre-booking only for evening meals (we do not do lunches) and offer a central self-service honesty bar rather than minibars in the rooms. We trust you will understand our efforts to minimise your carbon footprints and work with us to achieve that aim
We are an Italian/English couple who were working in London, nursing the dream of creating a home in a special part of the world with open views, light and sunshine, living more sustainably and getting back to nature. We´ve travelled a lot and wanted to create the kind of accommodation we love to find; family run, hospitable, eco-friendly, informal; where guests are treated as fellow travellers rather than just customers. Above all we love introducing people to this wonderful undiscovered corner of Andalucia; so please do tap into our fund of tips and suggestions for an adventurous stay that´s a perfect fit for you.
El Geco Verde is a Casa Rural with the emphasis firmly on the Rural. The hotel is surrounded by olive and almond groves, pine forests and agricultural land. We have mapped out some great tracks and trails for walking and mountain biking so you can explore this privileged location. The views are sensational and there is almost no light pollution, so the stars can be seen in all their glory. There are no other inhabited buildings within a 3km radius. The nearest bar is 4km away, the closest restaurant 11kms, the closest village (Castril) 13kms.
