We loved the rural setting! We had a late lunch in Triacastela and bought some bread and meat to have a nice picnic dinner at Casa Pacios. The renovated 16th century buildings are beautiful, and we enjoyed the games available in the common room....

Property information

At Casa Pacios, we not only invite you to stay, but to immerse yourself in the living history of Triacastela. Every corner of our rural house has a story to tell, and by doing so, you will become part of the narrative that has shaped this charming town over the centuries. The farm is warm and welcoming, where comfort and history are intertwined. The rustic stone walls reveal centuries of life and history, while the wooden beams on the ceilings add warmth and character. We welcome you to a journey through time in the heart of Galicia!

Neighbourhood information

The region of Galicia, where Triacastela is located, has a long history dating back to Celtic times. The Romans also left their mark on the area, building roads and fortifications. During the Middle Ages, Triacastela was known for the existence of three castles (hence its name, which means "three castles"). These castles were part of a defensive system in the area and were used to protect the territory. Triacastela became an important stopping point on the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route that attracted thousands of people from all over Europe. Pilgrims passed through Triacastela on their way to Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of the apostle Santiago are believed to be found. The town had a pilgrim hospital that provided shelter and medical care to travelers traveling the Camino de Santiago. This hospital played a fundamental role in caring for pilgrims during the Middle Ages. Over the following centuries, Triacastela continued to be an important place for pilgrims and also experienced political and social changes as Spain developed as a nation. In the 20th century, with the revitalization of the Camino de Santiago as a popular pilgrimage route, Triacastela once again gained relevance as a stopping point for walkers. Today, Triacastela is an important destination for those following the Camino de Santiago, and its history as a meeting point for pilgrims over the centuries has given it a unique identity and a deep sense of cultural heritage. The church of Santiago and other historic places in the town are reminders of its rich history in the context of the Camino and the region of Galicia.
