This unique and tranquil getaway located at the edge of the desert in New Gourna boasts a stunning, uninterrupted 180˚view from the Valley of the Kings mountains towards the river Nile. A private, free-standing, residence with dome, high-vaulted ceilings in every room, decorated in a bedouin boho style with furnishings sourced from the local village craftsmen. The building is made in the local traditional style (recommended read: Gourna: A Tale of Two Villages by the pioneer of sustainable architecture Hassan Fathy). The bedroom has an extra large king size bed that is 3 pillows wide with 100% cotton sheets, blankets and a 100% wool filled doona. Built-in wardrobe and chaise lounge reading nook by the window with a vanity or dedicated workspace as you require. The bathroom is spacious and lovely to relax in the bath after a long day exploring the local tombs and temples. The living room is the heart of the house with an extra high ornamental dome ceiling, where you can watch TV or enjoy a meal if you are not eating al-fresco with the mountain view. The kitchen has a brand new electric stove top, under bench fridge and clothes washing machine. Private, secure off-street parking.
Kareem lives locally with his family and owns a travel company called Egypt Swiss VIP Travel, so you will be in good and capable hands as he is well equipped to personally organise all your transfers and tours in Egypt, he also owns the local horse riding stable called VIP Riding Luxor, with beautiful Arabian horses to ride. Kareem will personally meet you at the airport, station, boat or hotel to drive you to the Desert House, while stopping to help you with shopping on the way, think of him as your private concierge, he will be on call to help you with any requests and assist you during your stay.
