Mónica Plaza Mejía With Special Education Degree and English Teacher born in Guayaquil, Ecuador; was invited to move to Galapagos in 1990 to start bilingual preschool Educational Centers, English Academy for school-age children and English Teacher in the School of Tourism of the Social Communication Faculty in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island. In 1993 she obtained her license as Naturalist Guide of the Galapagos National Park continuing his educational work combined with Conservation activities. Then she worked full time sharing the natural history of the islands with visitors from all over the world, with different shipowners and tour operators on yachts and boats with up to 100 guests. Between 1998 – 2012, she founded the María Montessori Private Bilingual Educational Center through which she developed a curriculum based on the flora, fauna and conservation of the Galapagos Islands. From 2012 to the present she continues working as a Naturalist and Cruise Director. Juan Carlos Lamilla Mejía Born in Guayaquil and a nature lover, arrived in Galapagos in 1990 to be part of the staff of Colegio Nacional Galapagos teaching English and National History.
