Fabulous hotel, great for kids and families. Absolutely beautiful meal at the restaurant with staff that went that extra mile both at reception and in the restaurant. Pool for kids was very good and larger pool and spa also great. Loved that there was an adults only pool and part of the sauna/spa that way as a family, we could use the facilities and not feel like we were detracting from singles or couples experience as they could use the adult facilities.
Wonderful old Bavarian town. People here are very friendly to tourists. I speak some German but most pick up on my USA origin quickly to help communications.
Rented a car and I recommend that to travelers as this is a big chunk of real-estate. Navigating with iPhone maps is incredibly easy.
Loved this hotel and the community. Clean, quiet, peaceful with wonderful breakfasts and a great staff. Perfect location to visit all tourist attractions in the area. Wonderful walks in the community, hiking/running trails, and short drives to Ettal, Oberammergau, Garmisch, etc. Plenty of parking on-site for my rental car. Easy location to find, shopping and restaurants within walking distance.
The hospitality and helpfulness of the staff was exceptional! We had to check in later than expected and the staff was so amazingly helpful! It was maybe one of my favorite hotels even though we got there late and had to leave early. It was so clean and decorated so nicely. Definitely would recommend! And it was in a really beautiful location - close to so many things.
We had a great stay in Oberau! The apartment was very clean and cozy and was equipped with everything we needed. Tido is an amazing host who always immediately helped us if we had any questions. We especially enjoyed the quiet location of the apartment and the nice view from the balcony. We can absolutely recommend this accomodation!
Selected this hotel because of its location. We went to the Passion Play in Oberammagau. It was a 15 minute drive over (although warning it's not flat terrain, be prepared for switchbacks around the mountain). The town pretty much closes down after dark so eat early and have what you need.
Hotel Edelweiß was a lovely, quaint property in a quiet area of town. Our room had a door out onto a pretty patio, and was just a few steps from the main room where breakfast was served. The owner was friendly and helpful. I only wish we had been staying more than one night!
Excellent apartment in a favorable location. Tido, the owner, could not do enough for you. He was very
helpful in giving information about the area and helping make my stay an enjoyable one. I would
make this my apartment for the future when visiting the Oberau area.
Very clean and a very well appointed kitchen. The location was great. not too far from Oberammergau for the Passion plays. Close to Garmish Partenkirchen. Multitude of walking trails. Cute restaurant/bar just around the corner. supermarket at walking distance.
We loooved our stay in this hotel and would love to come back some day. The room was neat and clean, the owner super friendly and a great host and the town was good located and very traditional. The included breakfasts were also really good.
Room had a balcony with a nice view on the mountains. The hotel did not offer breakfast at the time (maybe because of the covid pandemic). I recommend the traditional bavarian restaurant 200m from there as well as the bakerei for breakfast.
The property was clean and reasonably priced. While there isn't much to do in Oberau, the nearby town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has a lot to offer and is a short drive away. There is parking outside of the hotel as well as on the street.
The owner is very kind and gentle, the place is very warm and cozy with a beautiful garden. We also found a very good and complete breakfast buffet in the morning. Is possible to park the car in front of the hotel.
In the middle of a nice Bavarian village, this small countryside hotel provides very good rooms and wonderful breakfast. The host was very helpful and welcoming.
