On a summer's day, walk 15 minutes to Bar Beach, a popular spot with a rockpool, grassy picnic areas and beautiful views. Newcastle is perfectly situated for great holiday day trips to more iconic New South Wales regions like Port Stephens which is just a 30-minute drive away, known for its pristine coastlines and whale watching. The Hunter Valley is renowned for the country's best wine and is an accessible one-hour drive away.
