As you wind your way around the beach side streets of Cooee towards Beach House St Morris, you will soon see why the locals are so fond of their sleepy hamlet with its own unique character and charm. St Morris sits at the end of a quiet street beside the developing coastal pathway, just a hop, skip and jump from the perfectly nostalgic Cooee Beach. The calm and inviting atmosphere within St Morris is your backdrop, as we invite you to slow the pace, soak it in and enjoy your time here.
Once upon a time, on an island far far away (sort of), a part-time educator and full-time finance guy, fell in love with a house on a lovely plot by the sea. Bravely, they fought off giants from the big island, who also wanted the house (probs to knock it down gasp!). Then, they set about pouring their hearts and pennies in to making that house beautiful, so it could be shared by travellers from all the lands near or far. To be continued... We are available through airbnb messaging and respond to messages promptly.
Historically Cooee is founded upon various types of industry and continues to have a mix of different business today. The neighbourhood is a mix of old and new buildings. The locals are friendly and very proud of their tucked away spot near the sea and off the main thoroughfare. We are conveniently close to the North West Regional and Private Hospitals. Although Cooee does not have any permanent eateries or convenience stores, The Black Box Cafe operates within limited hours out of a carpark off the main road. Burnie is 3km to the east and easily accessible by foot or car. Somerset and Wynyard are a longer distance to the west. A Medical Centre and Chemist is close by. The penguins are one of the main features of this part of Cooee. There is plenty of parking on the premises. A shared coastal pathway is currently being completed along the old railway passage,which provides cyclists and pedestrians a great access to explore in either direction.
