Welcome to the Bicheno Bus Retreat. This is a special & unique accommodation experience. The bus is situated on a private 8 acre property 4km from the town centre of Bicheno - nestled in between the beautiful Douglas Aplsley National Park and the stunning beaches of the Dennison River. The bus is a fully functional, Off Grid, home on wheels. Complete with full kitchen, separate toilet/shower and Tasmania’s comfiest Queen bed. Please note, atm we have an open fire ban due to the dry conditions 🔥 Welcome to the Bicheno Bus, here a few tips to living comfortably and safely. POWER = The bus is “off grid” relying on solar, power so we have limited capacity. Please be conscious of your power use remembering to turn off lights when you go to bed etc. You can charge phones/computers (preferably during the day), watch TV, use the internet etc. But you cannot use high elec items like hair dryers, sorry. I recommend using the fairy lights that run through bus to light at night. GAS/COOKING = The bus is also powered by Gas, for hot water, oven/stove and BBQ outside. You don't have to do anything other than PLEASE turn the gas OFF at the stove after use. If the Gas runs out, come up to the house. HEATING = The bus is heated by a diesel heater, sounds smelly but it's not. The controls are near the TV on the wall, the unit is situated under the main lounge. To turn it on, it is a 3 second hold on the power switch, same process to turn off. You can adjust heating once it has fired up. It will heat the bus perfectly, but please DO NOT let it run over night. WATER = Being “off grid” means we are also on limited water, please be conscious of your shower times – keep them small. COMPOSTING TOILET = The Bus has the latest Green Loo GL 90. This is an industry leader in composting, odourless toilets. All you need to do is use the toilet paper + 1 cup of sawdust provided after a "number 2". Please close the toilet seat after use and do not put any other san
