The hostel offers private and shared accommodation. All rooms feature private bathrooms. I have stayed in a number of hostels, and I must say that my experience at HI Braga - Pousada de Juventude tops them all. Its about 15 mins away from the bus terminal on foot and is located opposite a tall and long yellow building. My first impression of the hostel was that it certainly didn’t look or feel like one. The serenity that greeted me when I entered, made me feel like I had entered the reception of a trendy and cool co-working space. The hostel is really big on the Sustainable Development Goals, and if you have zero knowledge about the SDGs, you’ll get to see a lot of things that educate you about it. The bins placed in the rooms and around the hostel all had color coded compartments that help you recycle waste properly, and even the bathrooms had friendly reminders about water usage. The rooms were very neat and spacious enough for a hostel room. My room had 4 bunks that were splint into 2 different compartments and a bathroom and toilet for the 8 occupants to share. Each bed had a charging port for a 2-pin charger and a usb port. When I checked in, I was given a key card, a key to my locker and a meal ticket for breakfast the next morning. The locker had a blanket, 1 large towel and 2 smaller towels in it. The hostel has several places to sit and relax. The lobby downstairs, the common room upstairs and a sit out area upstairs. There are also rest rooms located near the lobby and the common room. The common room has a vending machine for coffee and another for snacks and drinks/water, and a kitchen with a microwave and fridge. The lobby and common room also had interactive screens where you can look at places to visit in the city, create an itinerary and send to your phone. You can also choose to get a map of the city from the reception. I was really impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the hostel and the facilities there and I know that I’ll definitely lodge there again when next I’m in Braga.

They have the most sweet and helpful staff, they were absolutely wonderful. I arrived a little earlier than the check in hour, and they accommodated my bags so I was able to walk around the city more freely. Kiddos to the azorean worker who suggested me Leitaria (I loved it). They have a cozy community kitchen with appliances, and a wonderful small garden. The rooms are really nice, there's a curtain in the bunk beds that provide some privacy. The bathroom was spot clean! Really perfect for a solo travelers!

I can say that not always in the 5stars hotels you can find so clean environment. Everything is new. You have air condition and fan if you need. Hot water is always. You have a well equipped kitchen. Really an excellent place. It is also good for families of 5 (room has 5 beds).
