Ben Your Friend Youth Foundation has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and water sports facilities in Cape Town. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a tour desk, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The property is allergy-free and is situated 700 metres from Muizenberg Beach.

You can play billiards at the hostel, and the area is popular for windsurfing and fishing.

The place is well located to what I was looking for. I was well received by stuff and they went out of their way to genuinely make me feel welcomed and valued. Enjoyed the dogs😍.

At the hostel, every room is equipped with a wardrobe. With a shared bathroom equipped with a shower, rooms at The Lenox also provide guests with free WiFi, while certain rooms will provide you with a balcony. At the accommodation every room includes bed linen and towels.

I stayed in a private corner room with a shared bathroom down the hall. That may sound inconvenient to some, but with a sink in the room to take care of simple hygiene like brushing my teeth, it was no problem at all. Plus, (as an early riser) I never had a wait to use the shower or toilet rooms no matter how full the property was (and it was indeed full, as part of the time I was in Cape Town, there was a major cycling event going on). The huge kitchen and dining room were a big plus, as there’s a grocery store/shopping mall within 10 minutes of walking so you can save a little by cooking (and with a small refrigerator in the room, I never had to worry about my groceries going missing). The wifi was strong enough to support an online class, and there were enough cozy shared areas in this charming property that it was normally easy to find a quiet place to get some online work done. Although a bit of a hike if you are arriving via the Intercape bus like I was, I liked the location overall because it felt safe as a solo female traveler (and the property itself is gated and monitored by security, to include secure parking if you have a vehicle), and there were plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery shopping, and a beer/liquor store nearby. Many of the main tourist areas are close enough to walk to as well, although I may be biased since I was there to hike the famous mountains. And, speaking of mountains, what a fantastic view of Lion’s Head from my room!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
