I stayed at this amazing hostel in Weligama for 4 nights, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach and close to the city, making it easy to explore everything the area has to offer.
The mornings started with relaxing yoga sessions, setting the perfect tone for the day. The owner is absolutely wonderful and incredibly kind. He goes above and beyond to help with anything you might need, whether it’s calling a tuk-tuk, checking the train schedule, or arranging activities. His ambition to constantly improve the hostel is evident, and it’s clear that he’s creating something really special here.
This hostel is also an excellent spot for solo travelers. I met so many amazing people during my stay and made some great friendships. The owner’s network of friends ensures that you can easily arrange surf lessons or any other activities you’re interested in.
I had the best time in Sri Lanka here, and I’m sure I’ll be back. If you’re looking for a friendly, well-located hostel with a great atmosphere, this is the place to stay!

I booked for a dorm and he gave me a private apartment for the same price. And it was soooo comfortable !! You have a kitchen, a big bathroom, a living room and two rooms with A/C.

It is a very social hostel with a nice outside area to eat, hangout and play games. The swimming pool is very nice and the hostel is close to the beach. The staff is very nice and there are surf lessons available.

Great location and on the same premises there is a nice (but a bit expensive) vegan cafe. The staff was very young and hanging around the place, communicating with the guests all the time, hostel vibe.
Wake Up Hostel was my favourite Hostel in Sri Lanka so far. The social vibe is great and you can easily get to know new people. There is social activities every day, the location is 5 minutes from the beach and it's a bit off of the main road so you don't here the traffic. In addition the Host is super cool and takes part in most hostel activities. The dorm room was spacy, clean and there was a wooden Box to store your important stuff. If you want to to experience something you should definitely go here.
The hostel is runned by volunteers and they make a great job! They are kind, friendly and make you feel like home!! The building is very nice, has an amazing rooftop and it’s located in a quiet neighbourhood. You have the option to ask a local family to cook you sri lankan lunch, dinner or breakfast for a good price. And if you want to meet new people, don’t hesitate!
This homestay is perfect if you are looking to stay in a private room but still want to save money. It is very basic but it has everything you would need and a great location. If you are a traveler on a budget I would definitely recommend this place as it is the same price as a hostel but you can get more privacy and don’t have to sleep in a dorm…
this is the best hostel I have visited. good location, close to the beach, cafe, shop. clean, friendly staff. The best guys worked at the reception. they created a really cool atmosphere and came up with various events.
A great hostel with a great location. Not far from the bus station or beach. There always some activity and a WhatsApp group to make it easier. Common area is really nice and easy to meet people. Nice with a kitchen as well!
The hostel is super spacious and has to lot of places chill out!! its super close to the beach and linked with a really nice surfing school called surf mania!The rooms are really cheap and clean specially what is around weligama.
