we had a great time in Django and Tanabe ! we were six for two nights in the dorm and all went perfectly well. our host was waiting for us and helped prior coming with bus schedule, he has been very accommodating, thanks so much again. coffee and tea and fridge at disposal so we could have breakfast in the dorm on the table, very practical. laundry and drying is possible for a small fee. the hostel is 1 min from the station and buses to go to Shirahama. 15min to the beach. 2 min from a great bakery (bets bread I had in Japan and I’m a picky French), and across the road you have a very very good burger place.

The host was very friendly and helpful. He speaks English very well, so we did not have any misunderstanig. It was very kind of him to provide us snacks and a little meal for breakfast. Also we could use the kitchen to cook our breakfast. Jam, peanut butter, coffee, tea, cacao were included. Saying honestly it was the best place to stay during whole Kumano. This hostel is just 5 minutes away from the koi-Tanabe station. The house is typical Japanese traditional house which reminds me of my grandma’s house. It was very comfortable and relaxing to stay there. The owner was very helpful and friendly. I loved the interior design of this house.

The host was excellent, he called a few accom places ahead of our kimono kodo trail to ensure they had availability, he was extremely helpful. The bunks were clean and spacious for hostel bunks. Cute little balcony at the top for a drink too.

You won't get much better than this for cheap and cheerful Kumano-kodo breaks. I even got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kit. You have access to basic cooking facilities, and you sleep in a nice little cupboard. The staff are friendly and personable. It's clean and cheap for the area. If you don't need luxury there's no reason to stay anywhere else really.

The cheapest accomodation around the main shrine Hongu Taisha and on the Kumamo Kodo trail. The owner of the hostel gives us recommendations on where to eat and also showed us useful spots for camping on the trail. I also got a breakfast package (yoghurt, toast, banana). The hostel has a nice large common area with a big kitchen, so you can make yourself tea or coffee, there are also some snacks available 🤩

Great location across from train/bus station. Quiet, I think because it was a holiday, few people in the hostel, and downstairs bar was closed. Comfortable bed. Clean. Juan checked us in, very friendly, but no staff around after 4pm.

very cool hostel, welcoming staff just across the road from the station. We had 1 bunk room enclosed within dormitory with accessible toilet upstairs but also more downstairs, laundry facilities and great bar with local craft beer. I really liked Tanabe, small town heaps of dining options, worth a stroll down to the beach
